Name: Silas Keldor

Age: 17

Appearance: Silas is what one might call average, every time someone asked him his height, it would measure as average, his weight was average, not to skinny not too fat, the color of his eyes was an average green, never standing out from the crowed. An average scar from a gang fight he stumbled upon, one that anyone could get, decorates his left cheek. His nose a bit crooked, a remnant of the same gang fight. One could simply describe Silas as an average adolescent boy, who simply somehow survived long enough to be drafted into the PDF. So average in fact that he does not even stand out from the rest of the men in uniform, but yet, he did survive so far, so is he average?

Silas stands at about 1.72 meters tall, borders on the not athletic yet not skinny. On his left cheek a double scar which looks like a star, a gift from a small knife, his mouth a pale patch of skin, seems to always be tight, as if the mouth was stripped of emotion. Green eyes with some dark residue underneath, could be the sleepless nights, could be soot, Silas doesn't even know that himself.

A little bit of face hair has started growing, not enough to be called a beard or a mustache but enough to notice that he has to shave it. These patches of hair makes him look like an unruly street child at best, and at worst like some kind of an unevenly shaven rat. With the unshaven rat look comes the shoulderlength brown hair to make him look more scruffy.

When not wearing the PDF regular flak vest and helm he wears plain simple clothing, nothing to make him ever stand out of the crowd. Always at the same schemes always at the same colors, black or grey or greyish black, yet always seems the same.

Personality: Silas might seem like a completely regular boy on the outside but on the inside he is exactly the opposite. Silas exhibits exceptional intelligence for his age, always was thirsty for knowledge, never feared asking questions even if they were verging on the near heretical, he has a keen sense of cunning and a great will to survive. Yet with good and sound mind came a price, he is morbidly fatalistic, he believes that none of them stands a chance, they will all perish with the coming of the green tide.

Still he fights on, if its for his friends rather than for himself, he wont go down without a fight, although he doesn't have much to lose except life itself it is still something, and he is not that willing to give it away.

Generally Silas is talkative only with his inner circle of friends, yet he is not afraid to draw attention to himself by speaking to strangers either. Most of all, he is afraid, he is after all not even an adult yet, just a kid forced to grow up quickly and fill up shows bigger than his feet, it is good that there is always something to be done or something to get to because otherwise the weight of this existence will crush him and his sanity.

Background: Silas grew up in one of the space ports on Prolial Prime, his family was not impoverished, which was much more than many others could say, he had decent clothing and decent tutoring.

He grew up with both his parents yet his mother died when he was just eight years of age to some sort of unknown disease, one wonders how come only his mother was affected but at that age none would provide the answers to him.

Since his mother's death he grew closer to his father, his father being just an Arbites troop mainly, and although he was just an average guy he was still a kind and caring father, even if not the smartest, he would always try to answer Silas's never ending barrage of questions as well as he could and he would never get angry with him for that.
He was a great father all in all, and kept providing what he could for Silas until the age of 16 when he to has passed away, shot in the gut by a gang member on the way home, it was at the same time that Silas got his scar. He watched his father dying out in front of his eyes, blood seeping out slowly in crimson streams, they cried, and than they died. One was reborn later, as an adult.

Shortly afterwards Silas Joined the Arbites and from there headed to the PDF a year later when the threat of orks came to this side of space. In this training he discovered that he was a fine shot, not the best, but certainly above average yet out of everything he was always fond of the strategic and tactical part of every engagement, and while he might have not been the best tactician he was always eager to learn and always trying to analyze things differently to see different sides of the picture. Now if only he could do himself a favor and survive the orks, that would please him immensely.

Even though Silas had to grow up quickly after his father's death he is still a child in a way, and while he might not show it outwardly Silas still, in a way, looks for a father figure to look up to, someone he can trust and love wholeheartedly. Looking inward, his heart never fully healed after his father's death, and he still mourns it.

Group: PDF

Equipment: A well cared for flak vest and helm, although they have seen better days Silas has done what he could to keep them in good shape and order as it was after all, his lifeline in combat.
In a small leathery bag hanging on his left hip he keeps his frag grenades and in his father's hand made sheath he keeps a small combat knife that has been in his family for a while.

Weapons: A standard issue las-carbine, one that wouldn't stand apart from a whole pile of the same las-carbine stock.

Alright, so I see nothing wrong with Thede, welcome aboard @Tha Tall One.

Caul looks a bit more on the thin side, but then your character appears to be a bit on the smaller and thinner side; welcome @Iron-Within.

Finally we have Silas average Keldor and his average sheet of average averageness; perhaps other descriptive words in the future @komanko? I don't know who XXX is keeping his gear maintained but Keldor is accepted.

And as a note, PDF characters are not wearing flak armour, they are wearing sub-standard flak armour. Its lighter and less protective; flak armour can stop an autogun shot or lasbolt, maybe even help the wearer survive a shot from an Ork gun. Sub-standard flak can't withstand the punishment of regular flak, so don't go shooting each other to see how sturdy it is; as for Ork projectiles, if your gonna get hit hope for a ricochet.

Hah, god damn small hours in the night, forgot to remove the XXX was supposed to be the name as I did the sheet backwards.

Also, the average was on purpose ^^ A bit of laughter in the grim darkness of the roleplay threads section.

Sweet! So does this mean you will be starting this up sooner than next weekend?
I want to say yes, but I have a feeling I won't be getting the action thread going until Friday. Working on it though.

Also, @Euphrati would you mind editing Roslyn as we discussed; I think a lot of people are going to get a kick out of it.

If anyone else is still interested in joining recruitment has not ended by any means; it actually won't end until roughly halfway into the story.

You like putting me on the spot with a challenge, don't you Reever? :shok:

Challenge accepted. I hope I live up to your expectations.

Hey, sorry this took so long. It's a bit of a quick job but I hope it's OK. I just wanted to get something up.

Name: Private Jakon LaVeer

Age: 21

Appearance: Jakon is a handsome young man in a traditional noble kind of way, with high cheek bones and a strong jawline. He stands 5 feet 9 inches tall with broad shoulders for his relative height. His brown hair is kept short at the back and sides and tidy on top in line with PDF regulations. He is clean shaven. He keeps his uniform clean and pressed and his boots polished at all times, some would say obsessively.

Personality: Jakon is a General's dream soldier, disciplined, pious and obedient. He believes unwaveringly in his superior officers and the Imperial Creed. This does not always make him popular with other more free thinking soldiers or others who simply see him as being too stiff. He does not drink and is largely humourless. While others are cutting loose in their down time, Jakon is likely polishing his boots, performing maintenance on his weapon or reading a religious text.

Though this often opens him up to persecution, Jakon simply shrugs this off, confident in the knowledge that he will soon be an Officer.

Background: The LaVeer's are a respected military family on Prolial, claiming to be able to trace their lineage back to the original settlers. It is generally understood that the majority of family members will serve in the PDF at some point in their lives. Jakon is the third of four children. His Father is a Colonel, his Uncle a Tank Commander and his eldest sister a Lieutenant along with countless other cousins and other distant relatives. Even his elder brother, the family's second child who traditionally would join the Ecclesiarchy, found his way back to the PDF as a Confessor.

Jakon was raised to be a soldier. He was educated in one of Prolial's few dedicated military academies. Beyond basic literacy and numeracy his entire education has been based around military service.

However, Jakon is currently somewhat of a disappointment to his family name. Where more LaVeer's are promoted to Officers immediately upon graduation from the Academy, Jakon did not. His final scores only deemed average, he was forced to serve two years in the Conscript Platoons and has served three as a Private in the PDF. This is a constant source of shame to him and the reason behind his strict and obsessive nature as he attempts to live up to his family name.

The fact that none of his family has ever faced real combat and have earned their rank through connections, politics and parade drills is seemingly irrelevant.

With the Ork attack Jakon finally things he can prove he has what it takes and become worthy of his family again. Or years of training may crumble away in the face of such a threat....

Group: PDF

Equipment: Sub-standard Flak armour and helmet, spare ammo, combat knife and frag grenades.

Weapons: Las-Carbine

I know right? That would be inconceivable!

Apologies for the late entry, I hope it's not too late.

Name: Gallan Robickai

Age: 30

Group: PDF

Appearance: Gallan is a tall, well built man with a speckling of small burn scars across his cheeks and the back of hands, a legacy of years spent as a welder in the coastal ship yards of Laviax, a port city on the southern continent of Prolial. His brown hair, receding at the front, is shaved tight to his scalp, with a smattering of grey starting to creep in at the temples. He has a tattoo of his Artificers Guild crest on the side of his neck, and clan tattoos covering his arms from wrists to shoulders.

He is a fairly easy going individual, preferring to get along with people than not, but finds it hard to deal with those he perceives as fools. On the whole he is fairly level headed, but has been known to let his temper get the better of him when he feels that others are making stupid decisions that directly affect him. This has got him in trouble more than once, in both his military and civilian life. This strong willed amiability and sensibility, combined with his years of service in the PDF, tends to see him gravitate to an informal leadership role in any new group he becomes part of.

Unlike most of his guild mates, who saw their mandatory PDF rotations as a burden, Gallan volunteered for the PDF as soon as he was old enough, thinking it would help alleviate the boredom he foresaw in his future after watching his father carry on in the same job he hated for his entire adult life. He found that he enjoyed the rigours of his part-time career, so much so that he volunteered for any and all courses that became available through the PDF. It was an added bonus that attending all these courses meant that he spent less time suffering the tedium of life in the ship yards. It also meant he managed to avoid the worst of the Guild skirmishes and turf wars that dominated life outside of working hours of the working classes of Laviax, and those that he couldn't avoid he was better equipped to deal with than most of his comrades. He didn't avoid them through any sense of fear of getting hurt, he just saw them as pointless exercises in bravado, as there was no real prize to be won by the victors, apart from bragging rights.

Gallan was actually in the capital city waiting to be mustered back to Laviax after completing one such course to become an assault pioneer, when word of the massive Ork incursion into the system and orders for full mobilisation came down the line. He didn't think it would be long before his new found sapper skills would be called on in defence of his planet, and in some ways looked forward to an actual life or death combat situation, after only playing at it for so many years. He would soon learn that getting what you wish for can prove to be very dangerous indeed.

His equipment is pretty much PDF standard. A battered helmet that he was issued on his first training camp many years before, well worn but carefully maintained flak jacket, webbing with more pouches than is regulation, and a backpack. He keeps his bayonet strapped to the chest of his flak jacket next to a field dressing, having learned during the Guild street battles he did his best to avoid that having a blade or a bandage close to hand and easily accessible could prove the difference between life, and if not death, at least a serious maiming. After discovering a fondness for blowing things up while on the Assault Pioneers course, he tries to keep a demolition pack on him at all times, but considering how often he is called on to use them, this does not always prove possible. In lieu of a demo pack, he squeezes as many grenades into his kit as he can. As for his las carbine, he's not quite sure how many he's gone through since the commencement of combat, but it's definitely in the double digits. The one he currently possesses was taken from an injured sergeant he helped evacuate from the front line. It hasn't let him down yet.

Jakon LaVeer
LaVeer looks good to me Asamodai, your in.

Gallan Robickai
Definitely gonna turn down Gallan having any demo charges on him at this time KF, but that aside he looks good to me.

But why all the cloak and dagger with the other character?
Partly because its kinda fun to have a twist here and there (but not to many) and also because I knew if I openly allowed a player to be a marine than there was a good chance everyone would be going for it rather than the PDF characters.

Wow, thats one badass space marine you've got there Euphrati. But why all the cloak and dagger with the other character?
Darkreever gave me the opportunity to present him with a Templar character to fill a void in the rp, an opportunity which I was both honoured and humbled in the fact that he would trust me not to overshadow the other characters in the rp even if it meant giving up the chance to play a female character (as unxp poked fun at me, it is something I have had little chance to do on these forums). Reever asked that I simply edit Roslyn for my new role instead of posting a second sheet which might confuse people.

Now, to the badarse side of him- Yes, Theo is an astartes, which in and of itself means he is somewhat of a badarse. However, something that was part of the discussion as to the character- he is injured, his armour is damaged, and frankly his ammo counters are looking quite lean to say the least without any current means of restocking them.

I have a feeling that Theodoricus is going to need the aid of the pdf and drop troopers as much as they might need him at times.

I for one am rather bored with Marines characters, so its nice to play something else that isn't a marine. Hopefully one of these days I will get to play something not a marine or human, or organic(or seemingly Organic), just to narrow down the field a bit :p

To be honest one of the reasons I stopped getting into most roleplays is because they were all solely centered about SM.

I'm just happy to be on the player side of the table finally after 2+ years of dm'ing a local campaign and dealing with all the fun stuff that dm's have to deal with.

*whinie player* But, but... X player killed more cultists than I did! He is op!
*me*- You realize he is wielding a standard combat gladius, and you, as a Librarian, have a force sword as well as psy powers? And that your character stood in the back of the fight and monologged for ~3+ rounds. Besides, your dice apparently loath you, you might consider a sacrifice to the dice gods before next game session.
*whinie player* But.... he is still op!
*me*- Sigh... *facedesk*

So, you want a rp that revolves around a set of Tau gun drones?
