The future of the Inquisition?

I was wondering about this. I just started playing W40K and I'm collecting a Daemonhunters army. I see though the support for this army is very weak. So I asked my local shop if they planned to drop the Daemonhunters just like they killed the Squats and he told me GW was working on a single codex for the entire inquisition, with army lists for the 3 ordos (xenos, malleus & hereticus). Has it been officialy announced or is it pure rumors?

honestly, I think it would be better, as the lists already share a large amount of their selections (Inquisitors, Storm Troopers, Assassins) and there really isn't any point to having multiple codecies. I mean, whats keeping an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor from having a Crusader? Is hunting Demons not crusade-y enough?

As Dirge said - it's a rumour. But a rumour that keeps coming up again and again. It may be wrong - there was a persistant rumour before the Eldar codex was released that it would combine Eldar & Dark Eldar - that was wrong. But I think most people believe that GW is working towards one Ordo Codex.

I think Zak's right, a combined Ordo Codex would be awesome, I would have to get one...

No Codex for Ordo Xenos, just the Deathwatch PDF that can be found on the GW site at http://uk.games-workshop.com/spacemarines/deathwatch/1/ - that'll give you the currently-available rules for them.

Bear in mind 1 - that these rules were for 4th edition so may not be 5th compliant; 2 - they're for the (still, just) current Codex SM and may change in a couple of months; and 3 - they are for Codex SM armies only, none of you deviant non-codex chapters here, oh no mate (for which there is actually a fairly good justification).

I can see a combined Inquisition codex if only because Ordo Xenos doesn't seem to have anything to build a codex around (just Inquisitors and Death Watch, outside of the "standard" inquisitorial troops) and I've certainly not seen or heard of anything else for them, even in the fluff. It would be much easier to have a 4-part/section codex: Inquisitorial troops that can be taken by all Ordos, Daemonhunters, Witch Hunters, and Deathwatch; maybe just a smidge bigger than usual and maybe ~$30 US instead of $22. I just wonder if they would consolidate the inquisitors and retinues or keep the Ordo-specific options.

I am wondering if the proposed Sterngard Veterans are not a testbed for a future revised Deathwatch Squad. Many of their current features are there and then I think the Scout HB gets the Hellfire round.

All in all a combined codex would do well. The only concern I see is the possibility of having a two Ordos force. Take two HQ's from different Ordos that allow their specialists to be troops and then you can load up on Power-armoured Grey Knights and Sisters in the Troops slots. A potentially rather nasty combo.
