Is that not what The Grey Knight codex is referring to when it says Daemon? (Daemonbane)

 

They are two separate rules.

Daemonic possession -> Ignores 2's and whatnot
Daemon -> Grants all the rules above

Having one does not make it have the other rule.

GreyKnights Daemonbane, may encompass all of them into one category, but doesn't make them all the same

 

In the Grey Knight FAQ it says anything with Daemonic Possession is a Daemon.

That's just a rule clarification. Just because it counts as a daemon for grey knights does not give it the "Daemon" special rule.

I did see a rumor that Defilers would officially be given the Daemon special rule in the next codex so I guess I'll just cross my fingers and wait til then.

The SG has the daemon special rule. The daemon special rule in 6th grants the bonuses mentioned above. The SG gained a 5+, and fear.

What am I missing here?

 

Unfortunately, he only gained Fear. In the codex, the Daemon rule (for the Soul Grinder) only means he deploys like other Daemons and ignores Shaken and Stunned. The new FAQ added Fear but no 5+ Invul.

You'd think the Soul Grinders would get the Invul but I'm glad the chariots do. They seem a bit fragile at the moment.
