A new series of books is on the horizon from the Black Library. More Space Marines, obviously. I'm quite ashamed to say that I've yet to read a BL since Gaunts Ghosts a long time ago. Are they still a decent read? Is this a good addition to the Black Library?

Legion was a fairly decent book, I may pick the new ones up if the blurb interests me. As a series, Black Library books are a bit hit and miss in my opinion, but are still better than the average range of 'supporting fiction'. Some of the books compare quite well to sci-fi and fantasy books in general, which is better than can be said for a lot of this sort of fiction.

They have some good books out there. It just makes me cry inside that the main bulk of there stuff is around SM/Guard >.<

And I am yet to find a good book about Orks! And no, not from the respective of SM fighting Orks.

has any one noticed that the picture makes no sense.check a bolter out and theres klearly no ejection port, yet the picture shows cartiges flying ethery where!

Um, yes it does. Marine's fire Right Handed, so the Case ejector would fire them on the Right hand side of the gun - facing away from you. What doesn't make sense though it that caseless ammunition causes cases to be left behind.

my mistake ,but still it dont make sens in that regard, dont you just hate GW artists

If you go way way back, no even further (Rogue Trader) the bolter is described as a .75 caliber semi-self propelled round and not caseless.
Besides the art wouldn't look as cool without the casings flying everywhere.

I would have to agree with the art. It just plain looks awsome to see cartridges flying everywhere when things go bang.

As for the black library books. I actually like most of the books that they have come out with and can understan why most of the books are written about SM and IG. The 40K universe is about mankinds struggle to stay alive. Now it would be nice to see it from the perspective of another race a little more frequently, but as I said it is mankinds struggle.

As for the new books I am looking forward to reading them.

I have really enjoyed the Horus Hersey books I've read. And most of the books about the IG but then again I'm a guard fanatic. I do agree the could use a broader perspective on the universe. Books about the other races from their point of view would be cool even if your a SM and/or IG lover. A chance to see your chosen force from the other side of the battlefield is always cool.

I have a large book filled is a bunch of short story's, there are one or two from the point of Eldar, but the rest are all SM and Guard >.<

How ever I will say I do enjoy the Cain novels, even if it is from Guard point of view I enjoy it more then most of the others, just has more of a real life feel to it that hes not always (Or at any point in time) gun ho about charging in for the emperor.

Also, the art looks great, not a big deal that they dropped a few of the "realists" points about bolters.

And 40K is not all about mankind trying to survive, its about war, and lots of it. Screw mankind!

I find the BL books for fantasy are much better but that's not saying the 40k are bad. Just not as good. Yes they do seem to concentrate a lot on marines but as the frontliners for GW they have to. Fantasy they're all equal so they're more balanced...

New books though seem decent. Probably filling out the stories from the SM codex, like the world engine etc.
