Scout move

In the scout rules it states that a unit deployed inside a dedicated transport gives the scout move to the vehicle.

Earlier it says that the unit can make a "normal move." If they are deployed in a vehicle could that normal move include moving all out 24 inches, assuming a fast skimmer?

The more interesting question is: Which armies actually have units with the Scout ability which can take a fast vehicle as a dedicated transport?
I was about to say Striking Scorpions, but then I remembered they have infiltrate, not scouts.

There's nothing in the game standard that can, but I think it might be possible using a SC.

Ok, as far as I know there's only two armies who HAVE dedicated transports which are fast skimmers, DE and Eldar.
Neither have any units with scouts that can take one.

So the only possible way is mixing armies, say, taking Creed in an Eldar army.

Yes, you can move 24" as a "scout move" with a fast skimmer - there isn't anything stopping it, as it's a normal move.

Which vehicle is that on though? I can't think of many fast skimmers that can be taken as dedicated transports for units with a scouting unit.

[Edit: Solkan ninja'd me on the question there! should learn to type faster :)]

If you're talking about a LS storm, they have scouts as part of their rule anyway, so you can still use it's scout move, but the storm is not a dedicated transport.

Hope that helps!

As far as I know, no Scouting unit has a Fast Skimmer as a dedicated transport.

However, Valkyries are Fast and Scouts and though not dedicated, I don't see anything that says a transport loses its own Scouts ability when hauling a unit that does not have it. And even if you can argue that it does, it could still pull off a full 24" scout move if empty.

just remember in all cases you have tpo keep your distance from the enemy. *more than* 12" if out of LOS of the enemy, 8more than* 18" if in sight.

Whoops. For some reason I thought they used the same limitation.

In any regard, more than 12" away from the enemy, no matter how fast your scouty machine can go. 'Course, you can still cover that gap wioth your normal move on the first turn

I think the only way to get a scouting fast skimmer is a valk

I never really looked twice at the storm, it just seemed to rate a "Meh" followed by a page flip.

Infiltrate still isn't transferred (except in regards to granting outflank), but Scouts is.

However, Devilfish aren't Fast. Tau skimmers (except piranhas) are less 'low-altitude fliers' and more 'hovercraft'
