Interbreeding

I have read some pages on the Lexicanum that Eldar and Humans can interbreed if you read the Slann page. Are they like labelled as heretics or is the Imperium ignorant? I'm thinkin of a half-Eldar Space Marine to build for fun. Is Typhus half-Dark Eldar because they (possibly) ruled Barbarus before Mortarion and the Emperor killed them off?

 RT fluff says tigurius was half-eldar and thats why his psyker powers are so strong.
Today, however, I don't think there is much canonical support for that. Regardless, the imperium would brand any such halfbreed individual a mutant, xenos, heretic, abomination, what have you, regardless of said individuals loyalty or lack thereof to the imperium. Thing is, the imperium can only do that if they know the person is a halfbreed...

I think you could plausibly theme a fun army around this idea. there are millions of people in the imperium, and it's been around for a long time. Of course interbreeding could have been going on. For fluff purposes you could use pathfinders as they don't follow the norm anyhow.

However, don't expect people to want to play you when you have 3 wraithlords, a farseer, 20 space marines in rhinos, etc.

Could be fun TBH. You could theme the army around an Ordo Xenos Inquisitorial force. Hell if you have a group that accepts homebrew army rules (such as mine) you could field a force made up of Human and Eldar units brought together by this halfbreed individual.

I know in the past when my girlfriend and I have teamed up and combined out Blood Angel and Saim Haan Eldar into one force it's been a blast even if we were given a severe mauling.

imagine how the emp feels. Being stuck on a golden toilet for 10k years while he's the greatest psycher we've ever known.

But onto more serious matters. I think you could use a mixed army, but like I said before try to use those rnagers/pathfinders and not go cheesy with sm as troops, wraithlords as heavies, etc. I think people would think you're just using that fluff as an excuse to whoop their asses.

I also think you couldn't use chaplains (do I need to say why?), nor could you use an ulthwe army.

In the second DeathWatch novel, Alien Covenant or some such name as that, they specifically cite lore in 40k which suggests it has happened and is so far as to suggest that it will happen again. Power to ya with that army. And Humans and Eldar do work together, albeit briefly, usually anding with the Imperials firing on the eldar even tho thhey just saved their asses.

As people have (repeatedly) pointed out. Humans are cultured to harbor a strong hatred for all things alien, mutant, or arcane in the Imperium.

For a human to be cultured in any other way, he/she would have to have come from a world well outside the Imperial Influence and long arm of the Ecclesiarchy.

However, being from a world, not protected by the Imperium, probably incurs such risks as Chaos influence, Tau Influence, Rampant Orks, Nids, and possiby even Necrons... all of whome THRIVE outside Imperial Influence. (Necrons not so much thriving as... sleeping).

Moreover, Eldar harbor just as strong a hatred for humans as we do for them. Sinse Eldar are so arrogant, and self-righteous, always casting a downward gaze at the "Human Pestilence" they are so fond of calling us... it is unlikely any Eldar would suffer a relationship with a human.

Then you get into the actuall physics/genetics... Im not sure Eldar or Orks even have gender... sinse they are both products the Old Ones' experiments. They were both bio-engineered to combat the Necrons and the C'tan. Reproduction for them is likely nothing at all like human reproduction and thus its entirely possible that they simply couldn't breed with humans even IF hell froze over than they chose to.

From lexanicum: Eldar seem to reproduce in stages, with new genetic material being added by the father to the developing embryo over an extended period. This process is ill-understood, but Eldar autopsies are suggestive of it.
Hope this helps

In the codicies they're referred to as having gender, and if you consider the fact that 40k and Fantasy are possibly the same universe then Eldar came from Elves and Elves have genders. And Howling Banshees are supposed to be all female. So in theory they're the same as humans as far as genders.

40k and Fantasy are in no way related or connceted.

100% different

i see breasts amongst the eldar, that means they're mammals that give birth. how many chromosomes does an eldar have? sorry i havent a clue.

But id be prepared to say that somewhere theres a world where humans and eldar live together. DOW seems to show they have the potential to work together (in the first one at least).

concerning how the army would play, using space marines is nonsense. it would be basic IG stuff - not many tanks, karskin, psykers, commissars... or really much of anything in fact. I'd go ahead and put a 0-1 limit on everything except the plain guardsmen. Similar story with the eldar, though im not familiar with their lists.

Otherwise go for it - id like to see a human in eldar armour, presumably custom made to fit. damn thatd be cool...

In The Alien Covenant Book, They Interbreed. An Inquisitor Fell In Love With An Eldar And Got Busy. Its In The Fluff!!!

Dont know if the Eldar would get much fun out of it. Without going beyond a PG idea, basicly eldar senses are very keen, so even the best lover among humans would be about as exciting romance wise as a passed out drunk fratboy.
