Hey guys.

I'm starting up an Eldar force and was wondering how could i effectively create the look of either eldar corsairs? like Yriel or a nomadic piratish look?

All help appreciated

Well, consider their situation: most of their equipment was either taken with them when they left the Craftworld or stolen from others, so it might help for them to look beaten and worn, perhaps gouged and scarred. Give them trophies. Also, they would have less access to medicine, so bionics are in, as are amputees and the infamous eyepatch.

For composition, I doubt that many aspect warriors would leave their shrines, so focus on guardians. That being said some aspects could be converted to look wild. Also, look at the Dark Eldar for both aesthetics and tactics, they are after all Pirates.

Im staying away from the IMHO are very tacky dark eldar pieces. They are mainly nomadic corsairs to be frank. Like Yriel as i said. Once he was outcasted he still wore relatively good armour etc. I was thinking maybe That a craftworld was compeltely abandoned for an unknown reason and the remaining inhabitants after the world was gone took refuge on a nearbye world which they landed on with there ships which still had a decent amount of equipment. BUt they are in limitated supply.

I am focusing my army mainly on Dire Avengers with YRiel leading(not named YRiel just using his stats and points)

anymore suggestions now iv given more info? sorry for hte lack of information at hte start

dont go with the standard paint schemes for the aspects, as they would likely paint their armour how they want it, instead of the way its "supposed" to be.
trophies, damage and such for sure... convert stuff so it is the same, but defianately made in a differnt manner.
post pics :)

I'm going to be painting the Dire Avengers mainly Black and with adeptus battlegrey /ice blue hihglights and trims along hte armour. THe plume will either be blade and Red or black and ice blue. Im more inclined towards the Red on the plume though :)

Ermm i mite use some of my cadian bits u no such as the little ammo pouchs or i may GS some bandoliers across there chests or even put cloaks on every other one or two :) i am also debateing wether or not to pout like a scalf around there necks to make them seem more nomadic :)

Anyone thinnk thats ok? or got anymore ideas :D

Black, grey and Red would look pretty boss.
As for conversions, raid your buddies bits boxes, try and set up an 'open share' type dealio with them (thats how me and my buddies so it, and it has led to some pretty schweet conversions).
I've always wondered what a red and black Swooping Hawk would look like...
this army could look VERY awesome indeed.

In the 4th Ed rule book and on the GW website they've got some pretty sweet stuff on Eldar Pirates, like for designing your own kill-team, but the same concepts can be applied to converting and sculpting Eldar Pirates.....

I'd give you the link but the GW US and UK sites freeze up on my 'puter

One thing I'd like to point out is -all- Eldar technology is made of wraithbone and pyscho-plastics so nicks and gouges could be "healed" as a part of normal weapon maintenance.

On this idea you could consider "pirate" Eldar Bonesingers might create varied or new pieces of equipment to better use piratical tactics.

hmm you are right there rebirth :) well it wouldn't heal in the heat of battle right? so i may model them as if they are in the heat of battle ;)
