Do Seeker Missiles count as "One shot only" weapons?

Hey, just wondering because in the Codex, it says that they may only be fired once, but does that mean one shot at a time, or one shot for the game?

If the case is that it is a one shot only weapon, is there any reason to take a Skyray?

Thanks,

What!? That sucks... now it's the same as a Hunter Killer missile and a Grot Rokkit with lower BS...

Seeker missiles are fired at BS 5. much better than most other one shot missile launchers, the only downside being you need a markerlight hit.

Its not all bad though, you can also do a few nasty tricks like having the missiles on a piranha that moves 24" up the board and then the seeker missiles hit side/rear armour when fired, as the LOS is determined from the unit with the missile but it does not need to be able to fire it so can still move flat out.

Skyrays also allow move and fire markerlights which are fairly expensive anyway.

Ork Grot Rokkits hit on 2+ also, but they're only for Apocalypse.

Do you mean Grot Bombz? from the IA:A (1) book? The sort of rocket launcher from the back of a wartrakk?

I ask because they are one shot st8 ap3 large blast weapons that re-roll scatter. Thats completely different to a hunter killer missile or seeker missile, like comparing apples to oranges.

(and IIRC they're BS2 not BS5)

No, in one of the Apocalypse books, they have a grot-missile thing (an upgrade to a Stompa I think), which IIRC is like a hunter killer, but hits on 2+.

[Edit: Supa Rokkits, from ork Stompa data sheets]

Well the main reason to buy a Skyray is that you get ALL of the hammerhead bits in the box as well - and it costs the same as the hammerhead (however, one of the tau tank boxes is being withdrawn due to redundancy issues*).

Also, since the missiles (which are one-shots, just like H-Ks) aren't fired BY the vehicle itself (just markerlight hits), it doesn't have to be able to shoot for them to work (move 12" for a non-fast vehicle) AND you can fire as many of the remaining missiles as you have markerlight hits.

Interesting. Where have you heard that?

After somewhat 5 years GW should have realized that the normal Hammerheads dont sell for some obvious reason. This sounds very likely, my bet is that the normal HH is withdrawn to save space on the shelves in stores :)

I never said it couldn't fire the missiles, I said it needs a multitracker to move 12" and fire its marker lights. In my first post in this thread I said it could always fire the missile as its not the unit actually firing it, regardless of movement speed or any other criteria.

... as the LOS is determined from the unit with the missile but it does not need to be able to fire it, so can still move flat out.
