I'm sure i read somewhere that Space Wolves keep several Leman Russ as they Are named after their primarch....
yes exterminators, but thats only the space wolves, nobody else, it makes them different and special to everyone else, the problem is when you get other marines wishing and begging they could use them

To set the grumbling at ease regarding bringing a baneblade in a Space Marine army...

The Fellblade is a pre-Heresy vehicle which is identical in more or less every way to a more "modern" Baneblade. The overriding difference between the Fellblade and Baneblade was that the Fellblade incoroprates the same Machine Spirit technology found in Land Raiders. Fellblades were used by the Legionnes Astartes, and crewed by Space Marines. It's possible (and quite likely) some such vehicles have survived, at least in First and Second-Founding Chapters. So, the *potential* is there. You just need to have the right Chapter.

If that doesn't sell you, that's fine. Imperial armies are conglomerates of several organizations, and can include elements from several Space Marine Chapters who have contributed strike forces, Sisters of Battle, an Inquisitor and his retinue, and one or more Imperial Guard regiments. You could pretty easily write off the Baneblade as part of the Imperial Guard component of the combined army-- Apocalypse doesn't cover the entire battle, necessarily-- just a higher points game. A game is meant to be a section of a greater conflict, after all, and not the engagement in its entirety.

Should you have Imperial Guard infantry supporting the Baneblade? Probably. Does it still make sense to have a Baneblade in an Apocalypse army that's predominantly Space Marines? Yep.

definately

apocalypse is desogned for large battles, but also so that players with more than 1 army can field them all from time to time:

any army can ally with any other army (yes even marines and orks, direct hatred... EH!!??!?!)

so definately marines can have a baneblade, i mean, IG can ally with tyranids, and chaos with witch hunters, i dont see what is stopping you...

lol

hope i helped, even if it was 0.000000000001%

:eek:k:

Yes you can have baneblades. You can have any super heavy vehicles and in apocalypse you can play with any army you want allied with another.:p I have a shadowsword Titan killer in my 4000 point Crimson Fist and Imperial Guard force.:victory:

The Fellblades where not crewed by SM they where crewed by normal humans and not chapter serfs ( this is shown in the Heresy art book thing ). They where crewed by imperial guard or imperial army as they where then. Before the HH the imperial army was controlled by the SM they where with. So the luna wolves would have control over there imperial army detachment, this also meant that the Fellblades where given some of the symbols of the chapter.

If you do have a super heavy in your army that is fine just dont paint it like your marines.

I also disagree with baneblades in a sm army, at least without some other imperial guard. With putting it in chapter colours I'm against but that's just personal opinion. I mean doing things like that is Kinda the Point of Apocalypse. sure I don't like it in the fluff view but hell, if it's good fun go for it, that's what warhammer is about right?
besides making GW rich. . .

Why can't you have a baneblade in a SM army? Many chapters would use them as support even without any other IG stuff.Honestly it depends on if your opponent says yes and, in these circumstances,i doubt he wouldn't.

I personally am working on 'the great alliance' which comprises of of all the races(in my view) that have good intentions(tau, eldar, all Imperial armies and yes, even some CSM that have came back to the good side).Call me crazy but i tell you It'll work.

I would say do whatever floats your boat.

Does the new book let you bend the rules a lot? Yes
Do you have to play Apoc? Nope
Do you have the right to tell your opponent they cant use it if they aren't IG? You betchya.
Do you have the option not to come within 29 1/2 feet of one? Hey, it's your prerogative.

Odds are you can buy one, have fun modeling it, and run it in Apoc games with your gaming mates. Generally your friends arent' going to nerd rage at you for trying to use a tank that is not expressly part of your army.

I've read on a few occasions that a few chapters use Baneblades, but they are mainly defensive chapters since super heavy tanks require a lot of logistics that the highly mobile SM's might be slowed down by it. That's why you see a lot of SM tanks on Rhino type hulls. It's a simple, mobile and reliable design using a lot of universal parts. With the exception of the Land Raider, of course.

If I'm not mistaken I think Baneblades cost extra outside of Apocalypse games, but still even though you can field tons of firepower it'll chew up a good portion of what you can put on the table in a casual game. It would probably be better to field a couple smaller tanks.

YES...
they can because you can just say there are some IG accompanying them and the fight happened but ll the rest of the IG were still coming

I believe a Fellblade is just a Baneblade from back in the day that may or may not have had marines as a crew fluff wise and I think Bell of Lost Souls had a datasheet for the fellblade that made it 600 points and gave it BS 4. They might have updated it since I believe that came like right after the original baneblade release and I noticed with the huge baneblade plastic sales GW/FW became more open to more variable tanks. I'd like to see the fellblade get an official datasheet with some nice options for like a few different coaxial guns and differing sponsons.

I think someone has already provided the belloflostsouls link already but have a lokk on bellof lost souls. The Lords-of_Battles V2.0 Pdf is now out and has the stats for a Fellblade. Basically it is a Baneblade with BS 4 and machine spirit, and cost a little more. I have one in my 8,000 point Emperor's Children Army, along with a few other projects I am working on or have built.

In the Lords of Battle pdf you will also find stats for many other Epic scale super heavy vehicles for use in 40K Apocalypse and some pictures of scratch built models for some of them.

while i think having a baneblade/fellblade option of SM players is a bit much if someone was to ask me i say sure as long as i can field my warhound titan :p

There are two answers to this, Apocalypse and homebrew Chapters.

My chapter uses a Baneblade, heck even my Dark Angels use one.

I've got a baneblade, shadowsword, and warhound titan in my BA apoc list. They are painted to Blood Angels color scheme and iconography, also. I'm thinking of converting another baneblade into a fellblade that can hold 2 squads, has two twin linked assault cannons, and a vulcan megabolter.
