I have just converted some chaos havocs to the theme of nurgle and worrying that they don't furfil WYSIWYG.

They are missile launchers and i'll post up some pics soon but for now one has a death spitter arm that has been nurgled, another has a havoc launcher in front of him controlled by him using that lens/sensor thing from the vehicle upgrade sprue and finally one has some rokkitz from the storm boyz sprues that he controlls in the same way.

My question really is how strict is WYSIWYG? If something obviously fires rockets then it can be classed as missile launcher? Would it be fine as long as I made sure that my opponant fully understood what they had?

WYSIWYG is completely subjective it depends on the person looking at it and how they feel about it

If a character has a missile in his hands, he's probably not going to use it as a close combat weapon. Although that would be epic.

Chaos lord looks at one of his men holding a krak missile "What in Chaos has gotten into you lad? what good is a missile without a launcher!? I should just kill you now for stupidity!"

*the marine runs up to a loyalist dreadnaught and rams it unto a ventilation pipe, it explodes violently*

The lord stares blankly and turns to his munitions officer "GET US MORE KRAK AND FRAG MISSILES! PRONTO!, *turns to other men* "Looks like we found ourselves a new grenade line boys!"

but seriously, If anyone gives you trouble over nurglified havocs you can slap em a few times and say "Converted models have what I SAY they have!" they are following the rules, so there's no problem!

I once fought Nurgle Terminators with a Venom Cannon as a Reaper and I just let that go, it's got two barrels that are medium/high calibre so I'm happy.

The only restriction I have encountered - apart from WAAC types who are scared they cannot win without the extra edge of making someone play with less than their full army - is that if two conversions are extremely similar visually they should be the same thing rules-wise, e.g. if I use a Tyranid left arm as an auto-cannon, a different left arm with the same weapon must also be an auto-cannon.

As far as I know, CSM cannot select venom cannons from any list haha.

Just stay consistent during the game, i.e. don't change from missile launcher to lascannon. Other than that, who's to say the warp hasn't horribly bent their weapons to the fickle imaginings of the gods?

In most cases, it isn't a problem, as most of the players I've met, especially at Games Day, are fairly willing to give some leniency and bend rules where appropriate.
