Hey guys, looking for your advice on my 1250 point list below. How can it be improved etc.

Heres the list:

UNIT 1

HQ: Wolf Priest
TROOPS: 6 Grey Hunters w/ power fist, mark of the wulfen, wolf standard, melta gun
ELITE(1): Wolf Guard Terminator w/ 2 power fists
HEAVY: Land Raider (standard)
POINTS: 548

UNIT 2

TROOPS: 5 Grey Hunters, melta gun, wolf standard, mark of the wulfen
ELITE(1): Wolf Guard w/ power fist
TRANSPORT: Razorback w/ lascannon & TL plasma gun
POINTS: 223

UNIT 3

TROOPS: 7 Grey Hunters, power fist, mark of the wulfen, wolf standard, melta gun
ELITE(1): Wolf Guard w/ power fist
TRANSPORT: Rhino
POINTS: 238

UNIT 4

TROOPS: 5 Grey Hunters w/ Flamer, melta gun
TRANSPORT: Razorback w/ lascannon & TL Plasma gun
POINTS: 155


HEAVY:

Whirlwind

TOTAL POINTS: 1249

The cheap unit 4 will be used for objective holding, probably starting in reserve. The whirlwind will sit deep dealing death from above to my opponent. The three main grey hunter units will go take objectives and kill stuff.

For one, red text is for mods only. Number two I would change everything. First drop the wolf priest in favor of a rune priest with LL and MH. Next drop one unit of wolf guard and bump up the rest. One unit with 8 and one with 9 each with one WG with a CM and a PF plus 1 melta, MotW, and a standard. After that I would drop the wind and go for LFs in razor backs if you can find the points.

Firstly apologies for the red text.

So as you say everything needs changing i will ask the following question:

Can you please suggest a wolfie list at 1250 and 1500 points that will mostly play against guard, BA and Nids?

In terms of HQ choices i believe the wolf priest / rune priests represent the best value. A wolf priest was in my assault killy unit to boost their effectiveness in assault and i believe he does that.

A rune priest would be better off in a rhino in a pack of grey hunters enabling him to shoot out his psychic powers from the top hatch than merely swapping him in for the wolf priest in my killy unit.

Long Fangs with missile launcher loadout in a Razorback armed with lascannon / TL Plasma gun?

Is it adviseable to keep my wolf priest killy unit, add in a unit of grey hunters with rune priest in a rhino, add another unit or two of grey hunters (preferably in razorback lascannon/TL Plasma gun loadout)?

Thoughts please guys.

I think the question is how bad do you want to run a big rock at your opponent?

IMO, I have a hard time seeing how the above list will work. At 1250, putting 548 into one unit seems like too much (ie, any misfortune to that unit = auto loss for you) Example, it's not unbelievable that a Vendetta with 3 TL las cannons can cripple your LR on turn 1.

I would suggest that if you don't have any long range support you're completely dependant on luck carrying your Termies to the fight... and they are your big hammer... I think the best option is the Long Fangs with 5 ML... but with so much tied up in the big unit, you'll have a hard time fielding that with troops too...

At 1250 you want high yield fire saturation. Two units of GH, one with 8 and the other with 9, equiped with melta, motw, and a standard plus a wg with a PF and a CM. Those will be in rhinos. Then maybe two units of 3 ML fangs in lasplas razors each with a WG. I don't have my codex so I don't know how much that is.
