So this is what I am looking at running for my Warriors of Chaos now that 8th ed is here. I have some decent magic with the Sorc Lord, a bit of possibly uber effective shooting with the Hellcannons backed up by a whole lot of close combat killing goodness. Thoughts?

Disc of Tzeentch
Enchanted Shield
Infernal Puppet
Talisman of Preservation

Exalted Hero of Khorne @ 240 pts
Juggernaut of Khorne
Ogre Blade
Shield
Stream of Corruption

18 Chaos Warriors of Slaanesh @ 346 pts
Extra HW
Shields
Full command

I like how this list looks, but what will be the roles of the chaos knights? with the new steadfast rule, they will have to be cutting up alot.

The Infernal puppet isn't really worth the points anymore. Everything is bad in the new miscast table. But, it's all right.

One squad of 36 might do better than 2 of 18. I'd actually reccomend 24x1, 12x1, with the 12 marked khorne.
5 Marauder Horsemen @ 91 pts
Musician
Flails
Throwing Axes
Ten is better than five.
5 Chaos Warhounds @ 30 pts

5 Chaos Knights of Nurgle @ 315 pts
Full command
Banner of Rage

5 Chaos Knights of Tzeentch @ 310 pts
Full command
Blasted Standard
1 of 10 is better than 2 of five. That way they can disrupt.
1 Hellcannon @ 205 pts

as stated earlier by others, bring the Knights together, you save some points and get the bonus for the second rank (if you do the 2x5 split)

I cant comment on parts of the list, but MoS on Warriors.

The List seems to have no fluff background of coarse, since you have a Tzeench and Khorne Leader, but next to no warriors with the same mark.

Warriors work fine in squads of 15 despite Creon talking about bigger squads. Though you might lose a squad or two easier that way. I play 4 squads of 15 over 3 squads of 20 warriors. (yes, I have alot of warriors, I like it that way) with MoK and Halbereds, they rip shit up, fast.

also, extra HW AND shields? Id say only take one or the other, since having both is wasteing points

i always wonder why people take that mark because its almost a complete wast of points because you already get re roll to panic and now even to terror because it causes panic could you explain it a bit why it would be good?

Mark of Slanesh is the cheapest of the marks and gives ITS but still have the choice of falling back.

Don't forget, the puppet works against ALL miscast rolls, friend or foe. Being able to force someones roll to one far worse is worth its weight in gold, same with being able to move to the least horrible one for yourself. I think this is almost a must take now with magic the way it is.

Flankers mainly, adding in the attacks to main combats and chasing down other flankers and warmachines. They certainly lost a bit of their punch with the Steadfast rule for sure. Too bad they don't get the Devastating Charge rule :p

Worth thinking about. Cav doesn't get to add the attacks from the back row though do they?

The List seems to have no fluff background of coarse, since you have a Tzeench and Khorne Leader, but next to no warriors with the same mark.
Background is pure chaos, no rigid order to anything. Picture this as a small part of a much larger crusade that has all of the forces of chaos marching to battle under the most ruthless warlords.

In ccw yes but the shield gives you a better armour save from shooting still doesn't it? Have to check now because if you are right then yes there is no point in both.

i always wonder why people take that mark because its almost a complete wast of points because you already get re roll to panic and now even to terror because it causes panic could you explain it a bit why it would be good?
Mark of Slaanesh (p110, AB:WoC)
As KhainiteAssassin pointed out, the MoS makes you Immune to Fear, Terror, and Panic. LD 8 is not all that great really, even with a reroll, so the ability to ignore all those things for a mere 5 or 10 pts is a good one, especially since you can still flee a charge if you need to. Honestly think that it is the best mark a warrior unit can have, followed closely by nurgle.

I believe the Knights get to make supporting attacks but the horses do not.

...the shield gives you a better armour save from shooting still doesn't it?
It appears to still give you +1 armour save so would still help on the stroll toward the enemy.

...the MoS.... it is the best mark a warrior unit can have, followed closely by nurgle.
Certainly the top two - unless you ate really specialising the unit.

i disegree id rather protect my warriors with MoT and shields so they can survive the atack rather then flee for them.
or wipe out the enemy unit out first with MoK and halberds.

because if you keep fleeing you will never win a game i rate MoS the worst
mark you can give an unit nurgle is okay but id rather have MoT or MoK.

Sorcerer Lord of Tzeentch @ 405 pts
Level 4 Upgrade
Disc of Tzeentch
Enchanted Shield
Infernal Puppet
Talisman of Preservation
i would also take blood of tzeentch over infernal puppet now rather no miscast on my side then the not so bad miscast.

yes shields give the +1 against shooting, but thats why you buy cheap marauder squads still and use them as mobile cover >.> having both EHW and Shields is still a waste of points for only useing a shield against +1 shooting, plus they might FAQ it so you cant carry multiple items at once since they already FAQd out that all weapons replace the base HW now.

MoS is nice, but with how Frenzy is in the new rules, MoK > all if your not aiming for pure survivability. with pure survivability MoT or MoN are still better with S + HW

I've played about 7 games 8th edition and the puppet and another with the feedback scroll single handedly won me a game that i should have lost.

Your call if you think its any good; but being able to modify your opponents rolls is vital if you want to wipe out the units surrounding good characters.

maybe but how much is that going to happen and if you roll miscast on your only sorcerer and your lord and it dies that way you lose a lot of points in that case its better to get blood of tzeentch in my opinion but if you have more mages the first item you should take is still infernal puppet

I only really put my Sorc in for channeling dispel dice against my opponent.

I thought about taking the Blood of Tzeentch for sure. Went back and forth between that at the puppet for a fair bit. In the end it was the ability to alter my opponents miscast dice that chose for me. Not miscasting myself is nice, forcing the enemy caster to blow up himself and possibly the unit he is with... yeah that puts a smile on my face.

Especially when it KO's a unit around a hero - thus basically meaning his death anyway.

I have to resist losing 20 years of age and cackling like an excited child when i see the look on my opponents face.

blood of tzeentch is way better than infernal., as they said earlier, all miscasts are bad, but having something that makes you 99% miscast safe is just Uber. also i would go armor of destiny on him and necrolic pylactery ,, making him immune to those suicide wizards that ppl use these days, and giving him a 3+ ward against all kinds of attacks.

Not to mention it can also help with other annoying things. I can run a Sorceress with Pendant for Dark Elves who laughs at any of the strength value parts of the miscast table, but that d3 change could mean she's losing wizard levels instead.

Exactly. Overall, despite both items being damn good, I think I have to give the nod to the puppet. Just too damn useful.
