So I saw the Vostryan on the GW website and im jsut wodering who they are table top wise are they just fancy IG soliders? I don't have the IG so codex so im jsut curious. Thanks.

They're the firstborn Sons of Vostroyan Families who are offered up to serve the Emperor.

On the Board they are used just like any other IG list..just with fluffy hats.

Interesting. I was thinking of building a IG army modeled after WWII red army I think they ill fit in well

The Firstborn were created during the Medusa V summer campaign back in 4th edition. They didn't have any special rules or anything, though at the time they did have a bunch of suggested Doctrines to make a flavorful Firstborn army. Other than the fancy models though, there's nothing to set them apart from any other Guard regiment (not counting the fluff).

Their also incredibly expensive for a whole army, even by IG standards.

Also setting them apart from standard guardsmen is their increased price tag.
