All of the cool pic posted lately and info being released have convinced me that I should be playing Orks (for a few reasons)

1) they have got bucketloads of character

2) they look like a "fun" army to play and I got a waaaay overclocked competitive gene so they should help me to keep the games fun

3) I think I would enjoy painting orks more than marines (each one can be different)

4) I'm liking the idea of yelling Waaaauuuuuugggh across the table

5) lastly, I can relate to them, I'm big aggressive and stupid too



so on to my question, Does anyone know what units I can buy now that will still be able to be used after the new codex comes out?? I'm looking to go 500 pts for now

boyz, cause at 500 points they're pretty much all you need.

Add a few eavy weapons an a couple of Nobz to the boyz and you are about there for 500pts. They are all going to be safe bets.

Pretty much anything. The units will be getting a shake up, but all the boys should still be ok. I'm stocking up on the old-style trukks at the mo.

Expect everything to get updated models, Kujo. So you might want to wait for the new book and models to come out before buying.

I am a personal fan of more Dakka as well. So shoota boyz, Flashgitz and Wartraks are my faves.

Well - I can tell you what not to get - bikes. The current ones are totally naff. The new ones are just totally off the scale when it comes to cool.

I've been drooling at the thought of all the new ork goodness they been teasing us wuth, especially the bikes.

The three units that stand out in my mind are

1) The Bikes...the new chopper style bikes look sweet
2) shok attak gun is back, giant gun that sucks up gretchins and warps them into people is awesome. I got modeling ideas for that one.
3) Orcs with helicopter packs. Apparently they are like rokket boys. Now I have a reason to make those orc on hellion boards I always wanted to do.

So far, my only gripe with the new Codex is that my mob of converted Stikk Bommas might be riding off into the sunset on the back of a Zoat.

Lootas, period. A 15 man squad of lootas can have a possibly 15-45 shots with what amounts to an autocannon every round. By far the nastiest thing I have seen yet.

checked the copy my games shop has. One boys mob my be upgraded to 'ard boys and you can give all boyz mobs stikbombs.
