Hey.

Which army would be dedicated to hunting down an army of Lost and the Damned, Daemonhunters or Witch Hunters. I know that the Daemonhunters normally deal w/ chaos, but since Witch Hunters deal w/ heretics, and there are both in a LatD army, which is it?

Thanks.

I would go more with Witchhunters only because they are geared towards smaller uprisings and such with thier access to the Adeptus Arbites. Like you, I could easily see both doing the job and I think theyre jurisdictions kind of overlap, but I would steer more towards the Witchhunters for this one.

Daemonhnters are usually reserved for huge demonic incursions.

That said, It never hurts to throw in an allied DH inquisitor with a psycannon and metalstorm retinue because, well...psycannon rocks

Think of it like this. The Ordo Malleus are equipped specifically to combat the daemonic threat, not the followers of Chaos that summoned them. The Ordo Hereticus, however, is responsible for dealing with the followers of Chaos who could call daemons, as well as dealing with the less directly Chaos-related incidences of physical mutation and psychic talent. Finally, the Ordo Hereticus handles doctrinal heresy. For example, preaching the Emperor is a normal man worthy of admiration will warrant their attention if it is spread in a sufficiently populous area. The exception in that regard is the Adeptus Astartes, though relations between the Astartes and the Ordo Hereticus and Ministorum are at times strained.

I agree on the Hereticus side, but Ordo Malleus seems like it should be present somewhat, at least with a Malleus Inquisitor watching for daemons alongside his force.

That's what I thought too, but how would I do that armywise? I was under the impression that the two forces couldn't be mixed in a game.

When you need a Space Marine for something Chaos-y, call a Daemonhunter.

If you need something smaller-scale for something heretic-y, call the Witch Huntahs.

No, we just realize that the Deathwatch is immaterial here.

They are the Chamber Militant of the Ordo XENOS.

They are the appropriate unit for Eldar, Orks, Necrons, etc.

 with the Witch-hunter even your basic adeptus soritus has a 5 or 6+ psychic save. besides what could be cooler than a "nun with a gun on the run?"
