As it says in my intro topic, me and my friend are both building the same CSM army. The thing is that he prefers Nurgle and I prefer Tzeentch, so we decided to go with two HQ choices.

We want to know, is it better to go with a Chaos Lord and give him the Mark of Nurgle and a Daemon Weapon and all that jazz, or to just get Typhus.

Also, would it be better to deck out a Sorceror or to just buy Ahriman?

Everyone will tell you that the only viable HQ for CSM is the Daemon Prince, and while he is easily the best, by no means MUST you use him. Typhus is a solid choice, you can always by the Terminator Lord set and build your own and use him as either Typhus or a Lord, Depending on your preference before each game.

I personally like Ahriman. He is pretty scary, and while expensive, dishes out a lot of hurt. You can always make your own plastic sorceror (Dark Angels robed legs and Torso, Tzeentch style helmet and other things) This way you can have both on call depending on your situation.

Unless you have the cash to buy both, avoid Ahriman. He costs too many points when a tricked out sorc can do pretty much everything just as well.
He has his place in high point lists, but in most situations a sorceror will do you just fine.

As for Typhus, im a fan. He has some nice psychic powers that dont require a test to cast. Combine that with FnP, Termie armour, and his Daemon/Force weapon, and you get a real beast. keep in mind that he is also pretty expensive, so in lists under 2000 a Lord might be your best bet. Also remember to give him a bodyguard of some kind, because he doesn't have EW.
