What was the first mini you ever assembled and painted? Do you still have it? Where is it? What happened to it?

Mine was a Space Marine on a bike, he served me well for a year or so but as my painting got better he was starting to look very out of place in my army and I decided to retire him. But my Space Marines don't just hang up their armour and call it a day, so it was he met his doom during one of my many battles and now his battle ravaged remains and his ruined bike are scenery on one of my terrain pieces.

If I can find a pic I'll add it to this post.

Mine was a unit of space wolf grey hunters. They went on ebay about two years ago when I sold off several armies because I had to move.

Some hormagaunts. They are in a box with the rest of the Army. That list didn't translate to 4th ediditon and the paint job sucked. We'll see when 5 comes out maybe I'll redo them

Mine was a Ral Partha chaos dwarf. I used oil paints to paint it and didn't have a brush so I used toothpicks to spread the paint evenly (easy to do with oils). Horrible paint job on it and it still sits in a spot of honour on top of my desk to this day :D

I may have to take a pic of it to show off where I started compared to where I am now lol.

My first figure was a guardsmen with a grenade launcher (name: James "red button" Bob), who was easily the man of the match in the first beginners match I played. His kills: 20 gaunts (various), 15 genestealers, a 'nid warrior, carnifex and 5 chaos space marines. He was also the first miniature I painted. I didn't undercoat him or his squad (as they have similar battle honours) to make them stand out. The squad has slowly risen in status to Hardened vets. As a house rule, he has 2 wounds. As for where he is, he is still accompanying my guardsmen from warzone from warzone in the HMS cardboard box.

Mine was a Space Marine sergeant called Arthas, who met his end a year ago on a desolate street corner in Kasr Lutien. His bullet-pocked body still lays there, complete with his old power sword.

the rage of 40K all started for me when i was a nipper.. must of been 11 ish i was year 6 at school so yeah about 10 or 11 and i went into the shop with my dad and i got to play a big campeign match and i was using a squad of necrom warriors, those old ones with big guns and needles on the end, and with my exitement i told my dad next day to go get me them for my birthday... and i waiting in antisipation for him, and he came back with a box of space marines, haha oh well i still loved them my dad painted all but one which was the sergeant hu i painted... and either i lost him or the squad killed him and disposed of his body because of the shame in his aweful paint job

The first five Astartes to enter my service have a place of honor on my dresser at my parents' house. I pretty much just use my old room as storage these days, and every time I'm home, it's a nice reminder to see how far I've come as a painter and as a gamer. I don't expect I'll ever sell them or remodel them or repaint them-- I think they'll always stand guard where they are now.
