After yet another battle I was taking stock of the casualties and always find it interesting to see what the enemy seems to "fear" (tries to kill first) most.

So here's a few questions to the Non-Nid generals out there;
Which Nid units scare/intimidate you the most?

Which units do you usually try to kill first?

Which units do you hate to see show up on the tabletop?

Is there a certain unit you've never been able to beat and now dread facing?

Genestealers always make me cry a little on the inside, the big bugs arn't to bad, plenty of S8 fire to go round for them, and the little critters I can bladestorm off the tabletop. But I have a deep seated fear and distrust of the stealers lol, they have such a massive fear factor and the broodlord is basically a mini HQ option. So yeah, ill happily give up shooting almost anything else to see the stealers disappear.

Ditto,
Plus that rending rule doesnt bode well for my Sanguinary guard,
They are the first thing i pepper with Bolter/Plasma fire

once their gone i can relax and squish some bigger bugs

I'm in agreement here. Stealers scare the shit out of me. As a rule of thumb I kill the Broodlord first....

Large units of Hormagaunts, anything else is a push over really, especially the monstrous stuff, but a unit of 30 Horms is a nightmare, I'll never forget seeing 6 wolf terminators, 10 grey hunters and 10 blood claws slaughtered in a game from 30 Horms in 3 turns of combat, and barely losing 10 in return.

Trygons, the memory of how much blood I lost putting mine together (those tail spikes are sharp!) strikes fear into me. Also, being a tyranid player myself who uses 3 in 1500pt, I know what beasts they are.

While I respect the danger that Genestealers are and my Pathfinders found out the hard way that Trygons are Fleet, it is the hordes of little bugs I fear the most. They just can churn out so much dakka that it is impossible not to feel the hurt.

when i first started playing the game i was scared of nids because i used a lot of one shot weapons like meltas and lascannons. i think the first nid player i played against i ran a 5 man squad of terminator champions mark of khorne with lightinig claw pairs. with abbadon with them in a dedicated landraider transport. but i played a nid player and even though he couldnt pop my landraider he took care of my rhinos and plague marines squads. ha ha that game though was funny because the guy brought his hive tyrant in on the 4th turn deepstriking and scattered 12 inches exactly in the direction of my daemon prince he rolled the mishap table and got a 1 he lost like a 300+ point unit. but yea my modern list rapes tyranids i have 6 blastmasters S8 ap3 i also have 6 doom sirens. then i have 15 flammers for the small crunchy nids then i have 12 lascannons for anything super tough like trygons hive tyrants or one shot killing zornathropes. my daemon princes lash the squads and i burn shoot and kill nids. the last nid game i played the guy infiltrated his genestellers behind a building. he had first turn so he got his stuff up to assualt my first rhino but was very sad when he killed the rhino but nothing was in the thing. he didnt realize i had my guys out behind the rhinos, because i have played nids before and have seen this tactic of first scout move and assualt bull crap. but yea on my turn i disembarked my 3 chosen squads moved them up in as close together as possible so they could shoot all the flammers off. i lashed the squad of genestellers 7 inches bunched them up in a line and flammed them. it was like a full squad of genstellers. how ever many that is. but yea i had 126 possible wounds strength 4 ap5 shots. which i think genestellers armor save is a 5+ so it was nullified. but yea i rolled 30 dice got 18 kills no saves so he just pulled the squad because there was no way they would survive the rest of the rolls. he was very sad. oh and he brought his trygon up and i killed it the first turn it was in with 6 blastmaster shots and a ton of sonic blaster shots too. then i killed all of his guants and hormagaunts with the flammers and also a full ripper squad because of the template swarm special rule. also killed his zornathrope and 2 carnifexes with my blastmasters because only the zornathropes have invuls. and i gun his hive tyrant with blasmasters killing his 2 guards adn wounding him 2 times and then i jumped it with both daemon princes I6 A5 S6 and finnished the tyrant off i only lost 2 rhinos a squad of havocs with flammers and a squad of chosen. so i raped him pretty bad.

And to asnwer your Question after my list has so many template weapons and S8 weapons i have literally no fear of NIDS so bring on the endless swarm

Yeah I normally fear the hordes of little bugs since my army doesnt have very much shooting, all assault Marines. And to add to that scariness on the weekend we had a fun tournament here in Ottawa and in one mission everything strength 3 or less had the rending rule, that unit of hormagaunts, shudder.....:hang1:

The tyranid creature that scares me most is genestealers

I will usually go for the creatures with venom cannons

I hate seeing the genestealers outflanking right next to my heavy fire support it makes me want to melt the little bugs with a lighter
Genestealers i have gotten close to beating thanks to a overly large death company but i have never compleatly wiped out a whole squad

Genestealers without a doubt, they're just a nightmare. Sure you can shoot them down before they get close and all but if even one of the buggers (or worse yet, the Broodlord) makes it through you can have serious trouble on your hands. Also, that power that allows Broodlords to hypnotize their opponents is brutal and I hate it! I've lost my Chapter Master to that little trick.

I've only played Tyranids twice, and both times were pre-codex change. I was always wary of the damn carnifexes, they ruined my day :(

Mycetic Spores and their payload. A brood of Zoans deep striking behind your lines is no laughing matter.

I tried an all deep strike army at a Tournament. Didn't go too well though...

Think of those games only now nids get 9 carni's...anyway in my list I use the 3 trygon primes and 2 full squads of gaunts with devourers and 1 full squad of horm JUST to fuck with people xD

oh not to mention my flyrant getting into combat fast enough to start eating anything it gets close to

so yeah when playing my mahreens and space wolves I use my heavy support to kill their synapse then laugh as the little guys run away xD

Tyrants/Zoanthropes, it's residual pain and I eventually realize that it's not the same codex anymore.

Stealers have a weakness they are a scary problem with a solution, depends on the game how simple it is to find. Not much shoots in the hive fleet but there is one beast that does

Hive guard are a heavy/light infantry/light mech nightmare. T6, BS4, shoot S8, AP2, assault 2 and no line of sight required, they can be in the middle of a building and shoot anywhere within 24 inches. To even get a cover save the squad/vehicle has to be totally in cover, these things can shoot from anywhere and have 2 wounds.
Go figure .... what do you shoot ..... these things or the bug swarm .... because you won't have any light armour or terminators for long if they stay on the table.
