I Recently purchased the Rhino/CSM box set. I have to decide what to do with the CSM's. I was seriously considering making another chosen squad. I have a 10 man Chosen Squad of Fallen Dark Angels w/Champion w Lightning Claws, 2 Power Weapons and 2 Melta Guns with an Icon of glory. I also have 9 CSM's with no gear and have yet to decide what to do with them. In total I have 14 CSM's waiting for gear. 9 of them being old style and 5 CSM's still on the sprue.(New Style) I cant decide because I think I need Heavy Bolters for infantry killers. But My army is mainly assault W/ Khorne Berzerkers and Khorne Posessed. So the Infiltrators could be a better choice seeing as I use 2 squads of demons.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Chaplain Araziel.

None other than the defiler and the Vindicator. Its mainly an assault force at this time. When i get them painted I will Be using small Slaanesh squads with blast masters and sonic blasters.

Chosen... 5 special weapons + Infiltrate = killer Termy/Character/MC/Close in tank hunting squad.

Well at small point level games you won't have to worry too much about armour so I would say HB Havocs.

Solid advice. Then again I seem to be the only person in the world that wouldn't take chosen (in most situations). That and you get more bang for you're buck with havocs.

I agree with this. These should sort out any problems that your assaulty force encounters, and can be good for softening up the enemy before your main attack hits home

The one thing I dont like about Havocs/Devastators is that they have to pay MORE for their Heavy Weapons than regular squads have to.. Why buy for more when you can for less. At that point it becomes a matter of what you can buy for the same and what benefits you can get. Considering Chosen get infiltrate that makes them a more usefull choice IMHO.

Im not saying Havocs are useless and far from it.. just that if I have to choose between Chosen and Havocs I would take Chosen first unless I had a particular need for a lot of HWs.

Theres also a matter of how do the respective choices compare with the other elite/ heavy choices... Chosen come out looking fairly well by comparison while I think there are better heavy options than Havoks (a Predator with HB side sponsons does the same job and has some better durability IMO)

The other possibility might involve seeing the regular squads exceed 10 men... this does improve their durability a bit and they would have the 2 special / 1 heavy plus champ...

Just throwing it out there as my two cents.

Havocs. Your army is probably abit lacking in firepower at this point. (I like havocs thank you very much) And don't listen to anyone that says they suck. They obviously play a very different 40k. Havocs are excellent bang for the buck, excellent for large size squads and excellent at dishing out some serious hurt when they need to.

Sounds like a winner to me.

some people have issue with paying more for the weapons in havocs and devs.. but to me, I look at the over all scheme of things. Those weapons especially grouped with other like weapons, are vastly more effective together than in the squads that you pay less for. So of course you are going to pay more.

I personally field a squad of 5 Havocs. So far with all the games I have used them in, most people dont even bother shooting at them for some strange reason. However they dish out alot of damage. So what if you are missing out on Infiltrate, who needs it when you have a 48 inch plus range?

The range was never the reason to Infiltrate the Havocs-- it was so you could position them EXACTLY where they needed to be in reaction to your opponent's deployment. It's a BIG loss not to be able to pay three points per model to get that. It was worth it every single time.
