What qualifies people as a 'Veteran' Gamer?

Its a phrase thats used a lot in the hobby.

What do you all think?

Do you have to remember pre-slotta base models, maurader minis and such or is it a mystic pre-determined length of service to the wallet emptying God that is our hobby?

Put your thoughts on it down and lets see what we get.

Well, I've been playing 40k since approx 3 weeks after 4th ed Eldar came out.
its just under a year but most GW gamers (yes, I go to GW) including staff refer to me as a veteran player. I'm not a staff member but quite often staff members ask me to run a new guy through an intro game or give a painting lesson. I'm always happy to play a new guy, teach him/her how to write an army list and help him/her paint their models.
