What Kind of Weapon is This?

I know I should possibly post this in modelling/painting, but it is a rules question more so than a modelling question. This is my Sorcerer/Lord (Could be both) attached in the post. Now going off of the knowledge of weaponry that I have, the melee weapon he is holding isn't a halberd, spear, lance, axe, dagger, or any other kind of weapon like that. What kind of weapon would you guys consider this rules-wise, for both a Chaos Sorcerer and a Chaos Lord?

As a bonus question, what would this weapon actually be called in real life?

I believe in real life it would be called a naginata. Think of it as a katana with an extended handle. I would probably go with the rules regarding swords.

Quick google search and it does look like a naginata. Therefore, it would follow the rules for a normal cc weapon or, if a power weapon, a power/force sword/stave/staff.

Semi-related question, where the hell did you get that weapon? It's awesome!
@Tymesious: Yeah good call. I was thinking it could be a sword with a huge hilt to it, and it certainly does resemble a naginata. Very cool.

@Loki: Nope, I Googled a glaive, thinking it could be one as well, and it isn't.

@Septok: Well I think it would be used as a power sword/force sword. As it does have a blade, it wouldn't be much of a staff as the rulebook says under what a force staff could be, "a mace or other blunt weapon, it is a force staff". This was taken from a Dark Elf Spearmen sprue. There are many other variations of weapons in there as well, I just chose this one for the model.
Surely that's more of a Power Axe than anything else - personally I'd just go with Unique Power Weapon...
Well if it's taken from the Dark Elf Spearmen then why not a Power Lance/Spear?

+1 Str and AP3 on the first round of combat is pretty good.
I could, but see if we go to what the weapon looks like in comparison to real life, it's not a spear. Spears are long poles with tips at the end of them for stabby stab. It could be reasoned that this could be a naginata/long ass hilted sword thing.
My money would be on a Power Halberd as that is what it looks most like to me, which would make it a Power Axe as far as the rules are concerned.

Also looked up what a halberd is, and a halberd is like a spear, but with a small, slashing bit for the damaging bit as opposed to a pokey one for a spear.

Yep, the curved point on the blade of the thing makes it look more slashy than poky to me. Mind you the Rulebook pictures of the Eladar weapons that look similar to this call them spears.

Bottom line, call it what you want and let your opponent know.
in the last codex that could have been a tzeentch daemon weapon
It would definitely be considered a polearm, so I would say it should be run as a lance/spear, but could also qualify for a sword or even an axe.
Hmm. It could be argued (in this case for a Lord), it would either be used as a lance/spear or a sword, and for the sorcerer a sword in the style of a naginata as said before. I'm sure as long as I tell my opponent which I have chosen to stick with in the army list or pre-game I'm sure it could be okay with one or the other for the course of the game.
