I was pondering this just before (after reading anachy fevers thread), what are the points levels that people play? I've heard of the main tournament ones of 1000, 1500, 1750, 1850 and 2000 seeming to be the main levels .

What are your favorite levels? Personally I like 1500 and 1850.

Also thought id add what are the most obscure levels you've played at? Had a game a couple weeks ago being 1175 because that's what he had

40k - 1250 or 1750

the points levels don't take much longer to play and you always feel like you have a good fighting army.

1000 - 1500
Just enough for a nice fat list but small enough for multiple games.

40K I play primarily at 1850 and 2k, and with Horus Heresy armies I've built lists solely at the 3k point limit. While building smaller lists takes much more careful unit selection, I just like having a fuckton of models on the table. I mean shit, war without end infers a lot of dudes on the ground haha

1750 or 1850 is what we usually play around here 90% of the time when playing regular 40K.

For Skirmish 40K (a fan rule set we're working on) it's 750.

Personally I like 1000 and 1500 for 40k.

1000 is large enough to get a "true feel" army and gives you enough points to play with most tricks an army can do. Spamming units is a bit more difficult if you play to objecives and it also plays rather quickly.

1500 is about as large as I like to go. You can use all of an armies tricks, but you still have to make some choices and can't just throw in the kitchen sink. I am surprised more tournaments don't use this point level more often considering the time limits they place on the rounds.

At my GW for 40k I used to play 1000-1500.

Ever since I got my own battle board though my friends and I run 1850. We are currently working on home-brew 350 and 500 point rule sets based off the 6th edition kill team rules.

I really feel you don't get an accurate "feel" of the army till your pushing 1800-2000 points. At lower points games you end up sacrificing X upgrade for Y ability. At 1850 you can pretty much fit in what you want without needing to repeat it.

I firmly believe 7th edition should drop the force org chart and go % expenditure. Or some bastardization of the two. If only to try it.

usually i go @ 2k, 1500 at the minimum, unless i want to go super fun and have an actual decent size of allies then somewhere between 2.5&3k.

for team games, pending style, i feel that i can go as low as 1k per player - however that is pending co-operation for list building. if the team game is simply a meet up of 4 players and no list building for cohesiveness then 1500 is where i like it.

I like 1750 games because it gives you room for a good diverse selection. In a tournament however I much prefer 1500, simply because it gives you a bit more restriction and forces a bit more thought to be put into composition and tactics. :)

2000 is usually for standard games. The other regular points level is 5000+(Usually around 7-9000) , my usual opponent and I play some huge games in our campaign. Usually around 10 superheavies at a time and two dedicated artillery tables.

1750 as a general rule, with the occasional 1500, 1850 or 2000 point match.

The common set-up is 1000 pts for me, with the even 1500 pts. When we have a free hour we just play Kill Team!
