What are some good tactics to use with the Imperial guard

Have large tanks shoot frim behind your many gaurdsmen who shoot a lot of las

can you be a little more specific? what sort of units are in your usual army, what points battles you play, who your usual opponents are etc?

I have a pretty Massive collection. I do not have much Armor
as for points we can say 500 1000 1500 and 2000 pts I need various styles or one that fits them all. The Sit and shoot is what I used but in the end it failed

I don't play Guard but a few of my mates do and they have seen many victories employing simple sit and shoot tactics, backed up by heavy weapons and armour.

Without a lot of armour your need to sit and shoot from some sort of cover. This will give you saves against good AP weapons and also lets you strike first if you did get sucked into combat
