Well im looking for a big project, i was considering going down the forgeworld route but resin can be a pain in the arse, so was considering doing a large scale tall ship ( possibly in wood but not sure on the mechanics of doing it)

and then i came across this

http://www.internethobbies.com/soart1wwgedo.html

:shok::shok::shok:

and looking at the scale i got wondering would this be in the 40k ball park for a conversion?

The World's Largest Plastic Model Kit. Over 3000 parts. Completed model is over 58" long. This model separates the men from the boys. It is not for the faint of heart.

umm I personally had this kit waaayyy back when and sold it to a local VFW for the sheer fact that there is no room other than a banquet hall that can possibly house this freak of a model. 40k wise... yep it's cool, practicality? ZERO!!

Looks amazing, but it says they won't ship out of USA. Do you have another supplier if you can work out the scale?
bugger i missed that bit :mad:

Im seriously considering doing a wooden ship, one of my suppliers has the hms victory thats about a meter long and change for £200, its laser cut and the reviews are good but not sure if im gonna need to fork out for any specialist equipment to put it together like jigs and mini power tools, and plastic model tall ships in a reasonable size are very few and far between these days, im looking for a decent sized project, but as i work with GW stuff all day im trying to look outside the GW hobby, This all stems from seeing that tiger tank part work on TV the other day, i love the size of the beast but im not forking out £5 a week for 140 issues and 3 years to finish the damn thing.

58 inches long, thats 4 feet 10 inches... and $600.00 US or £388.50! That is not something to "toy" with. That is crazy ass big. I would love to see it in person, just the kit that is! All that plastic in one box... crazy stuff.

B&K, if you really want it, you would need an importer/exporter to handle the shipping to you. They charge a fee of course, but it is one way of acquiring it. You buy it and supply the importer/exporter address in the US. They receive it and send it off to you. I had to do this for a guy when I had a paintball store. he lived in some odd place that I could not ship too without using an importer/exporter. Worth a look into if you are serious about that thing.

Well I'm sure any one of us wouldn't mind be a go between for you if you really wanted to get that behemoth. Just would have to foot the bill it seems.
