Is http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Warmaster more or less true? friends keep telling me Warmaster is second hand of the Emperor but I hold that it's significance has decreased alot since the days of Horus and follow mostly what it says, just an Imperial Officer/Chapter Master or any officer in charge of an army of apocalyptic proportions and only when appointed.

And to my knowledge, only Imperial humans are given the title of Warmaster. I've never heard of an Adeptus Astartes or, say, Mechancius member receiving the title.

Yeah, Warmasters have fallen since the heyday of the Great Crusade. They're no longer the supreme military master of the entire Imperium's military...just temporary masters of a tiny sliver of the Imperium's armed forces. This might still account to many billions of soldiers.

Also keep in mind that, unlike Horus, modern Warmasters do not have direct control of the Adeptus Astartes. A Warmaster technically has no rights to order a fresh Adeptus Astartes Initiate to do anything.

Thanks, now to tell them I can be Warmaster in our roleplay(guy is trying to call out Chapter Master's and Daemon Princes, Ork Warlords and forget the Warmaster)

was just thinking if it's a war of apocalyptic scale, a warmaster is usually appointed and all he's really in supreme charge of is the Guard so orders won't take centuries to be passed down, more like a few days/weeks/years, lol.

In 40k a Warmaster is merely the figure appointed to lead a particular crusade, Macharius for example. He only has authority of the munitorium elements of that crusade (the guard elements) no more. He technically has no authority over the various navel, mechanicus or astartes elements that may also be in that crusade.

He/she can't muster, or command all the Imperial Guard in the Imperium, merely those in their crusade.
