I want to make a barechested Space Marine Veteran with a giant Combat shield and Spear (like in 300) and I am wondering how the torso from a beastman would compare in size to what a SM should be.

Sure. Or maybe a space marine is a little bigger, maybe comparable to a bestigor.

I'd try using a Chaos marauder torso-- it's more beefy, for lack of a better word.
