How well do you think a Tyranid reserve army would do?

Something like 3 trygons and a tyrant with hive commander then whatever else warriors stealers etc. My nids havnt tried it but i was wondering how effective it would be.

I tried it, and got super lucky. Rolled tyrant first, got it. Then got the death leaper and everything else that turn except the trygon. It denied the droppod maddness of the marine army I was against and allowed me to do some nasty things second turn. IMO, it can work very well.

I have been running a Tyrant with Hive Commander, 3 Trygon Primes with Adrenal Glands, Doom of Malan'tai, and a handful of stealers in 1500 points.

Its ok, but its lacking a bit i think.

Im considering dropping a Trygon for Zoanthropes and Hive Guard, and possibly dropping the Tyrant for a cheap Warrior Prime and walking the Trygons across the board.

I have come to the conclusion that the Elite slots are crucial, and should always consist of 2 squads of 3 Hive guard and a squad of 2 Zoanthropes in a spore, or else 3 Hive Guard 2 Zoanthropes in a spore and Doom of Malantai in a spore.
