I have always been disturbed by the difficult terrain rule for vehicles.
basically you roll a 1 and then you are immobilized AND you take an hull point.
In Italy we say "Cornuto e mazziato"
(meaning: your wife cheats on you and you get beaten by her lover too. Maximum scorn for you, bro.)

To adress this, we came out with two solutions:
1) If you roll 1 on the difficult terrain test, you simply get Immobilized
2) If you roll 1 on the difficult terrain test, you may choose to become immobilized OR to lose 1 Hull Point and stop your movement and considering the vehicle as moved at full speed for this turn.

Until now, we extensively playtested option 1), and we decided that it has a minor impact on the game.
What do you think abot option 2?

EDIT___________________________________________________________________________
My group is going to apply rule 2)
"If you roll 1 on the difficult terrain test, you may choose to become immobilized OR to lose 1 Hull Point and stop your movement and considering the vehicle as moved at full speed for this turn."

Why would you ever choose to become immobilized? It seems like you give the player a choice, where he will NEVER choose the first one. In such, it's not really a choice, but the illusion of it to make it more complicated.

I like the one with loosing 1 HP and stopping the vehicle, counting as moved a full speed.

Hi Nordicus :)
The option is there actually only to save vehicles with 1HP remaining, that would be wrecked by a bump on the road

Those situations always crack me up though - Seeing a landraider, the toughest tank The Imperium can produce, getting wrecked by a barbed wire fence.

"Uhm boss, we have a situation...."

Hahahaha! I remember that game!

Landraider gets immobilized by barbed wire 1/5 the height of the landraider. Psyker HQ inside landraider tries to manifest a psychic power and kills himself.

"Embicile! I've got this! Let me just...." *puff* *mistcloud of blood*

In idiomatic English this:
...In Italy we say "Cornuto e mazziato"
(meaning: your wife cheats on you and you get beaten by her lover too. Maximum scorn for you, bro.)
Becomes an interjected clause, "to add insult to injury"

For example. "There I was driving my land raider over the trenches, raiding their lands. On the way I took a few hull points of damage, and then to add insult to injury my tracks got snarled on the barbed wire and I was immobilized! What the fuck!"

On topic, it seems like a nice house rule.

thanks @alt-f4
yesterday we had a game where we discussed the option to modify in a similar fashion the dangerous terrain test for bikes and cavalry. A unit of nurgle bikers lost 3 of its numbers after crossing a barricade and then starded fleeing...turn 1. That was hilarious but also fucking stupid. They can take an assault cannon round in the chest (Toughness 6) but will just die if fell from the bike....we laughed loathsome laughs! :)

Before GW made this change official my gaming group had house-ruled IN that you took a hull point of damage when you got immobilized. Our reasoning was: why wouldn't you lose a hull point when you've taken enough damage that you can't move any more?

Not knocking the house rule here, just thought it was funny we went the exact opposite way.

that's because we will NEVER be happy with the current rules set!
