Hey mate,
I do, but for skitarii it probably won't be necessary unless you have basing materials that you've painted on which will be liable to chip - metal, mostly. If you don't have such a material, I'd say probably not.
The reason I do is that I have a spray on matte varnish, which makes it easy to just whack the whole model at once.
