[Lord of the Night]

I am in the process of basing my Skitarii Rangers, the first time i've ever done this, and as I was doing it I wondered if I needed to matt varnish the terrain. With basing material I doubt that is the case but do I need to use varnish with the Citadel Terrain paints?
