I've been thinking about doing an undead horde for ages now. I really the the idea the Harryhausen esqe skeletons roaming across the land. I really want to push that Horde of death kinda vibe, so hordes rather than huge monsters.

Lords

Vampire Lord
-Master of the Black Arts
-The Flayed Hauberk
-Blood Drinker

Heroes
Necromancer
-Invocation
-Dance Macabre
-Raise Dead
-Septre de Noirot

Necromancer
-Invocation
-Dance Macabre

Vampire
Ghoulkin

Core

40 Skeletons
- FC
- Banner of Endless Nightmare

30 Crypt Ghouls

20 Zombies
- FC

Corpse Cart
- Unholy Lodestone

Corpse Cart
- Unholy Lodestone

Special
30 Grave Guard
- FC

20 Grave Guard
- FC
- Great Weapons

Rare
Black Coach

So i've got 4 casters to try and bolster my forces, I was looking at the block of 30 Ghoul Kin with the Vampire to get the Early march and get into combat fast. I was thinking 6x5 for them. Them with the big block of Skeletons try to be my Anvils as it were. With the Grave Guard giving me some hitting power. My Vampire lord rocks out with the big Grave Guard unit.

What to do with the Necromancers is a problem, I was thinking about them taking the Corpse Carts as mounts, riding along behind my big units. But that leaves them vulnerable to cannon fire etc. Or maybe I should throw them into units drop the Corpse Carts and buy some more toys, maybe a Second Black Coach with the points.

Thoughts?

Im not a fan of the sceptre, as the you will never get enough zombies to be useful, 25 points for one unit of ghouls to march seems like a bit of a waste to me as well. no ward on your vampire is bad bad bad, since anything that hits those grave guard will be trying to take him down. Corpse carts are always a good choice, as is a black coach.

I was thinking of using Zombies as charge redirectors hence the Sceptre. That and 4 Power dice can net you 12+ D3 + 3D6 Zombies, so 16-33 Zombies. I have no idea if that is useful though.

I was thinking GhoulKin might be handy, an 8" vanguard move essentially. That can put us only 10" from the enemy lines, which is very chargeable on the first turn. But perhaps not. So ward saves for the Vampires then.

Should I mount the Necromancers on the Corpse Carts?

perhaps Lords and Heros more like

Vampire Lord
-Master of the Black Arts
-The Flayed Hauberk
-Crown of the Dammed

Heroes
Necromancer
-Invocation
-Dance Macabre

Necromancer
-Invocation
-Dance Macabre

Vampire
Avatar of Death, Walach's Bloody Hauberk

Whether you mount the necros depends on whether you have the hero allowance, with the new ed I'd say don't bother any more

Make sure at the minimum you get a ward save on your general or your seriously screwed, if he dies your army dies. I'd lose the unit of 30 GG and buff your 20 unit to 40, with GWs, horde, and banner of the barrows they can dish out serious hurt, especially if you can put other magical buffs on them.

possibly give one of the CCs balefire.

You should have some points over to get some bats or a scouting vampire to kill war machines, It may not be a thematic but VCs are slow and you risk being shot back to death

I used to do the two coach thing but I realized that I was hurting myself as much as, sometimes more than, the enemy. One coach is plenty and with only one on the table you should have it max buffed by the end of turn 2.

Personally I love the scepter, but it really comes into it's own in smaller games.

a few things first off drop the unit of 20 zombies and grave gaurd the zombies you can just raise them in the game meaning less vp's when they are killed not ifd just when and 1 unit of grave gaurd is enough to slap people silly with the points saved from these 2 take a unit of 5 wraiths and banshee along with a banner of the barrows
