I was just wondering if we're still allowed to use the assassins from the 3rd edition assassin codex with 4th edition armies. Hope so!

sort of. 3rd edition assassins are out. However, assassins are now in the witch hunters and daemonhunters codex. You can take inquisitorial allies with any imperial force. so essentially you can still use assassins with 4th edition armies. they just have to be from the 4th edition inquisitorial codexes.

The assassin's codex is 3rd edition. they were merged into the inquisitorial codexes. Either one uses the assassins so it doesn't matter which you pick.

You need just any inquisitor, it can be an elite inquisitor does not have to be a lord.

Yeah I wish they didn't have to take a retinue or at least have a quick way of killing off the retinue so it can join another unit. The ability to auto pass or fail moral tests is pretty useful.

The fluff behind it is because inquisitor lords don't do field work as much as inquisitors. So when they do go out, it's kind of an important event. Inquisitor Lords are in charge of sectors.
