A possible contender for a gt list, Designed not to be overly affected by escaltion, but still have some shootiness for when its needed

Although no matter how much you prepare for something the dice can go against you, the more prepare you are the easier it will be when the dice go wrong. I am firmly of the belief that you can certainly outplay an opp and manage a win against a stronger list againt the odds with your tactics and knowledge of your list. The thing is at the gt, especially once you get a few wins in hand you will be playing against people who know there list well, and a tactically sound. Even with the strongest list it will be a difficult game, so if they are prepared for escalation and mission based games and your not then they have a big advantage over you.
I don't think that list would qualify. Its overweight in synapse and lacks killing power.

How are you managing to get hormies into combat on turn 1 in anything other than cleanse?
Ah, now I'm not suggesting that you go in entirely unprepared, rather, you shouldn't water down your approach to do so.

Basically, if you throw your lot in and try for the 'I'm ready for it all' approach you'll be letting the list down somewhere.

Make provision for a core in an escalaltion scenario (My list doesn't really I know) but dont go all out, or you'll be changing your list to something you'll be less happy and familiar with.

Competetive as a GT is, I still think that tha aim of the day is to have as much fun as possible and try to bag a prize or two, but if you lose? well, in the GT there is only one winner, so there are about 199 losers in total... it's no big deal if you are one of the 199, might as well go and have a laugh, as there is a good chance that you may be in that group.

Not saying don't go to try to win, obviously not, but the game is for fun, and you cant win them all, try as you might. Might be worth taking a view perhaps to see what scenario you think you can drop from your preparations (due to theme/tastes/style) and focus up on the others. It's a negative view true, but like I said, you can't win them all.

(It's at this point I will now mention that I came joint second in the first Call To Arms Tournament for Mordheim and I had a list that was totally themed, and really not very tactical, and though I didn't win 1st place I was one Ld test away from the difference between 1st and 2nd, and I didn't mind failing it that much because the whole competition was brilliant fun!)

I must say Indra's list doesn't seem very powerful in escalation at all. I think i could beat it and i'm not an overly good player, and my list is more pick'n'mix. theres alot of points in hormies which dont even start on the table, and then are much easier to avoid. the warriors are very cheap ones which is good, but there is not much in the way of synaspe that can stick with the main line[tyrants usually die quick].
Hive Tyrant [wings, Twin-linked devourers, Scything Talons, Enhanced senses, Toxin Sacs, Flesh hooks, Implant Attack, adrenal glands ws, adrenal glands init, bioplasma]

Broodlord[implant attack, toxin sacs, fleshhooks]
6 Genestealers[extended carapace]

4 Tyranid warriors[Leaping, 4 x scything talons, 4 x Rending claws]

16 spinegaunts [or can have 4x12?]

3 Zoanthropes[warpblast, Synapse]

Drop the warriors and get a broodlord and your pretty set. Maybe upgrade to have a unit of hormies as they are useful.
Nice looking list there; if this is the way you wanna go (some elite nastiness for defo) then i would make those spinegaunts 4x12 - more scoring units and resiliance as gaunts go under quick. Spread your chances.

Also i think the stealers need scuttlers to give them an added edge. Been able to sneak 6" further forward is very helpful (just remember you don't always have to do it).

If you droppped the Impant attacks of both the broodlord and tyrant, plus the tyrant bioplasma you should have neough spare points to do this. Bio plas on a tyrant with twin Dev aint so handy or great. Plus with both your HQ's not much can stand up to them (except GD's) and you'll find the doubole wound is often wasted points.

I also still think those warriors need EC - i know you don't but i will never shut up about it
