Ehm,

I've searched through the BRB and multiple codice, and I cannot for the life of me find the entry for Two handed close combat weapons, I know at one time they had a benefit, however now I cannot find them listed anywhere. does anyone know the rule?

The only thing two handed weapons are is not one handed weapons.

So no bonuses for having a second one handed weapon etc. There's no such thing as a two handed weapon any more really, just vauge allusions to them

Page 42, filed under "fighting with two single handed weapons", second sentence. Yes that is all of it :victory:

There are no general benefits to a two handed weapon, though many special two handed weapons have their own bonuses (such as an Evisorator, 'Uge Choppa or Daemon Weapon).

when did they change that? I remember at one time they weren't even called "two handed" they were called "great weapons" and they gave +1 to str. Did they remove that bonus from two handed weapons?

I don't think they've had a particular bonus since 2nd Ed (they might have had a mention in 3rd - my memory is a bit foggy), which had all sorts of funky weapon rules. Great Weapons still exist in Warhammer Fantasy, giving a strength bonus, but the same hasn't been true of 40k for a long time. As I mentioned above though, there are special bonuses for many types of two handed weapons, including more than a few which give strength bonuses, which is what you might have been thinking of.

thats just god damn retarded. sorry for my anger. Two handed weapons used to have benefits, then they go and steal them away... total horse shit.

Fuckign GW.

Ranted ended.

either way, I'm glad that Daemon weapons can still rock out on bikes lol
There are no rules in the brb for them (accept for not being able to use a 2nd 1hander)
But in the ork dex is the big choppa wich gives +2 str, there might be others in the other dexes

the eviscerator in the daemonhunters codex is a chain fist that requires two hands, but doesn't require terminator armor. all models may have two weapons, one of witch may be 2 handed, so give your inquisitor a good pistol and a eviscerator and go tank hunting.

ps nemesis force weapons one handed +2str and power weapon for the justicars and terminators. Force weapon for the grand master. god i can't wait for the new codex.

Having a 2-handed weapon specifically excludes the possibility of having a second close combat weapon, and therefore there is no way to gain a bonus attack in close combat.

An example of this in the Eldar codex, when Warlocks must choose between a Witchblade or a Spear. The Spear can be thrown to gain an S9 ranged attack against vehicles, but because it is 2-handed it means the Warlock loses the Witchblade/Shuriken(sp?) Pistol combination and thereby also loses the bonus 1 attack in CC.

That's wonderful, but what's your point?
They still do.

Daemon Weapons all have big benefits (although are arguably worth taking).
'Uge Choppa gives +2 Strength and only costs 5 points, that's a great budget tank-killing weapon!
Tank Hamma is a S10 melee weapon available to Tankbustas.
Executioner is a +2 Strength Power Weapon that Banshee Exarchs can take.
Biting Blade is a Striking Scorpion Exarch weapon that gives +1S base, and +1S for all your attacks this turn for every hit you make, giving a maximum Strength of 8!
Relic Blades are +2S Power Weapons available to Space Marines.
Frost Blades are a +1S Power Weapon available to Space Wolves.
As has been mentioned, Eviscerators are Chainfists that can be wielded by people without Terminator Armour, available to Which Hunters and IG priests.
Punisher is a +1S Power Weapon available to Dark Eldar.
Honour Blade is a +2S melee weapons available to Tau Ethereals (which you'd be mad to purchase really).
*quick edit* As Darklove brought up, Singing Spears are two-handed Witchblades, carried by Eldar, which allow a 12" 'throwing' attack, which is about as powerful as a hit in melee with it.

So as you can see, every two-handed melee weapon in the game has some advantage (I didn't list every single one, but they all do).
