So I wrote this crazy army list and I was just wondering if it would work?

3x veterans

3x Leman russ

3x Leman russ demolisher, lasscannons

1x Leman russ executioner

I don't think it could work, but that depends on your opponent and rulespack/missions.

My current tournament list:
CCS w/ 4 meltaguns, astropath
Vets w/ 3 meltaguns
Vets w/ 3 plasmaguns
Vets w/ 3 plasmaguns
1x Vendetta
1x Vendetta
1x Vendetta
2x LRBT w/ 1 dozer blade
2x LRBT w/ 1 dozer blade
1x LR executioner w/ plasma sponsons, dozer blade
Total: 44 models, incl 8 vehicles, 10 KP @ 1700pts

The BIG difference is that I have 3 anti-tank vendettas and I'm able to move my troop choices for shooting/claiming. You guardsmen are very vunerable and inmobile.

Your anti-tank comes from the demolishers. They blow up tanks for sure with 3 S10 templates and lascannons. BUT you can only target 1 enemy unit per turn with those demolishers.

I'd go a little easier on tanks and add chimeras to transport (meltagun) veterans and CCS. That would add even more hard hitting targets and add mobility. Vendettas would ofcourse also add options, but at a much higher price.

My group field a lot of Armoured Battlegroup and Armoured Company lists and they can work quite well, but they either win big or get wiped off the board depending on the lists faced. One difference is that they aren't squadroned and count as Troops which obviously helps a lot..but they aren't a standard 40K type of list.

I can build a competitive list all the way to 3K and not squadron any Russes at all, but I'd never take 3..the firepower is wasted on a single target, too easy to lose all 3 against specialised anti-tank units like Fire Dragons etc., so 2 would be my limit.

@op...give the CCS and Vets SW's because the Vets especially are wasted without them really. I don't think I've ever seen footslogging Vets as they are made to be transported, especially in Chimeras because of the 5 firepoints, or in Valkyries and used as an alphastrike- type unit.

Stick to max of 2 Russes and use the free-up points for other units..whatever you fancy really.

It looks to be a fun list, but i would have to agree with the chant of lower the russ count. At minimum i would say drop one and go 3 groups of 2. Still vulnerable to the squadron rule but spreads out your opposites anti-tank abilities and pick them off.

Depends on mission as well....

If you absolutely MUST go with spamming Russes, then id go with something like 2 units of 2 standard Russes, and 1 unit of 2 Demolisher Russes.

Either that, or 2 standard, 2 Demolisher, and 1 Executioner.

I would still advise against it though.

Dead right KoC..if you're squadroning Russes it's best to use the 'cheap' ones, so LRBT's, cheap Demo w/ a Hull HF, but never take 2 Executioners as the cost just blows out, and a single Exey with Plasma Sponsons is almost as good as 2 sponsonless Exey's but 150 pts cheaper..no contest really.
