Just saw a 1K Sons Dread and was wondering something.

Would a Dread have been affected by the Rubic?

As other legion Dreads are a chaos marine thrashing against his incarceration within a walking tomb, I would think so.
Makes you wonder how they have been re-crewing them since the rubric though, with a dustpan and brush? Or a sorcerer that is so badly damaged he can no longer cast. I used to use the Warp Flame vehicle upgrade to designate the latter, but with the new codex I dunno if its still there.

I guess it differs from dread to dread, depending on whether the traitor inside was a 'first generation' marine with or without psychic skills.

Can't really imagine that the orginal Thousand Sons giving many non pyskers access to Dreads though can you?

I mean they only really promoted pyskers into postions of Rank so the chances are they wouldn't have put them into Dreads either.

I've never considered that the loyalist TS where biased towards non psykers, but regarding how opportunistic they dealt with their losses after Ahrimans spell it makes sense.

However, that would mean that most dreads were in fact unaffected.

Prior to the new codex, I counted Daemonic Posssession on my dreadnoughts as the Rubric Sign. I assumed that while it'd vary by the individual within the dreadnought, a Thousand Son with psychic powers would probably still be able to use them from within the dreadnought's sarcophagus, and there wasn't really a good way to represent that, so it seemed easier to just make them Rubric dreadnoughts.

wow I just now caught that.

dreadnoughts are lame, then, since we still don't have drop pods for chaos. there is a unit out there that better does the dreads job, pretty much no matter what you want that job to be.

I'd rather have my scarier defiler that is, strangely, more mentally reliable and more resilient to ap results.

gotta love when a daemon is more grounded than a sociopath. :p

Let's not forget the fact that fire frenzy will make your dreadnought target your own units if they are closest to it as well now :p

Well if you were trapped in a steel coffin with guns, going insane and had nobody to shoot at wouldn't you go a little nuts sometimes :D
