Hey, Deserter! Welcome to the Pit!

Wraithlord is one of the local mods who has been kind enough to consolidate some of the current Chaos rumors here for our perusal. He also is an avid collector of TSons, which is why nobrot mentioned him as a good source of advice.

Generally speaking, TSons are meant to be an army of shooters backed up with a good dose of psychic ability. This may be a change from your Marines, depending upon just how you used them. Take a look at the other posts regarding TSons and the Chaos rumors. These resources should help you quite a bit.

Power fists for all your squad leaders.

For each TS squad on foot buy a chaos spawn it gives you +2W for only 20pts & is not instantly killed by lascannons.

The only psychic power worth considering is bolt of change. Unless you are buying one for a mobile character when the other shorter ranged ones may be considered.

while rumours say that the Tsons will be getting fixed to be what they are meant to be fluff wise (shooty/tough with psychic tricks)

the current rules make them most effective as big wads of wounds that shield aspiring champions with several powerfist attacks.

wind of chaos is cool.
thrall wizards are cool.
bolt of change isn't really worth it on aspiring champions.

oh and you'll want to mechanise.

Whoops, sorry I didn't see this thread sooner.

Deserter, the advice I can give you depends on one very important fact: do you already have the army or are you getting ready to collect them?

If you don't have it yet, aside from maybe a couple boxes of troops, I would recommend you hold off till September on starting them as the new codex is going to come out and UTTERLY change the way Tsons currently work. For example, Tson champs will no longer be allowed to take pfists and such (they will get force weapons as standard), sacred numbers will no longer apply, Slow and Purposeful for the Sons will be altered, etc.

If you do already have the army, all the info you will ever need was put together here on the boards by member Son of Horus in the All is Dust - Thousand Sons Tactica thread. Hope it helps.

Thanks wraithlord i don't have any thousand sons yet but i really want some. I live in australia, when does the new codex come out there? I read some other forums and really hope thousand sons don't loose their 2 wounds because that would really suck. I will hold out getting any thousand sons until the new codex comes out and i have it in my hands. But does any one have any ideas as what to do with my space marine army? I still have it, it is 1700 points and when i finally get a thousand sons army what should i do with it?

I can't post it for all to see but I can tell you that the Sons are losing the second wound. However, they get a 4+ Invulnerable save in its place.....

New codex is supposed to be out in September in Australia as well I believe.. As for your current army, keep it man! Then you can switch back and forth to break up your playstyle a bit. I have one of the large, $130 GW army cases and I bring 2000pt of both Chaos and Tau with me when I go gaming.

whatever you do, just dont look at my thousand sons army. not only is it illegal in current game terms, its full of things that really wont work in an army.. but it looks nice.

Agreed. Even if your second army is a loose 500pts, it's worth keeping around just so you can have a change of pace once in a while.

Deserter I have to ask, is the only reason that you want to play Thousand Sons is because of the 2 wounds?, Space Marines are pretty hard without the extra wound, as a Deamon Hunters player who doesn't really take any more than 5 GK's in PA I can tell you that basic SM's are good enough as they are.

If your attracted to armies that are hard in terms of basic troopers I would really recommend that you look at Amoured Companies for IG, you can't really get much harder than a tank.

Oh god, I can't believe I'm saying this, but check out the necrons if you want tough troops as well, they're pretty damn nasty to kill as well, especially if you just take waves of warriors.

Yesh, the "We'll be Back!" Rule certainly has it's advantages. But Necrons do Phase Out if reduced to 25% of their strength....so take big units.
