I was sure I was gonna do an Emperor's Children army as my next CSM army but my buds think I should do Thousand Sons instead. We'll see which I like better I guess. What do you guys think of this list? I tried to stay fluffy and competitive. All is dust!:victory:

Daemon Prince 205 Points
- Wings, Mark of Tzeentch, Warptime, Wind of Chaos

I am pretty biased towards EC, so take this with a grain of salt, but there are two components to this list that I don't find competitive: its made up of Tsons, and the Terminators. 39 models plus rhinos for 1850 points isn't a lot. Tsons are great at close range against MEQs, but thats about it. While IoT gives those Termies some staying power, I find CSM Termies are under-performers. I'm sure you're going to DS them in though, so they'll probably do some good damage. You're ranged anti-tank with this list could be a problem. A mechanized list constantly on the move is difficult to smash to pieces in CC.

My biggest problem with Tsons is that most of the army will look exactly the same every game you play. Variation is not possible with them. And their stuff is so expensive that model count will always be low. Personally I think they are the worst cult choice in the codex in its current form. Unfortunately I don't think Emperor's Children are the most competitive either, but they are a hell of a lot of fun to play, and can take a multitude of different styles of lists.

Good luck with the new army! =)

I'm not gonna disagree with you on any of that as it was pretty much my thoughts on things too. I also plan to test a Death Guard army before fully commiting to buying anything. I love CSM and I do eventually want all 4 cult armies. But the Tsons are very predictable now. I miss the good ole 2 wounds and tons of wargear they use to have in the previous codex.:cray:

Emperor's Children was a blast to playtest. Awesome sonic weaponry and high initiative makes them deadly in both shooting and assualt. And the Lash Princes with Oblits was totally brutal. :victory:

My World Eaters are still my fav but how do you go wrong with Kharn and 3 squads of Berzerkers jumping out of 3 Raiders

The list itself lacks fire support and any enemy with decent target priority will target the rhinos first. Then your army's footslogging its short ranged fire power over to the enemy lines.

If you want to own all four cults at some point I'd suggest you build a list now using all four. It'll be more competitive than just focusing on one aspect.
