We've had some time to review the new Codex so what has everyone found that has changed?

Here's a few I've dug up

1. Sternguard, and anyone else who gets special ammo, can only change the ammo type in their own shooting phase. So remember what you shot last turn when you are about to overwatch.

2. Scouts - Now can take a Land Speeder as a Dedicated Transport .

3. Teleport Homers now work ONLY on units of models in Terminator armour but they work for all units in you army, i.e. Friendlies - (insert long argument about Allies of Convenience.)

4. Bolster Defences now works for any terrain

5. - edit- not new at all.

Any others?

I thought that was a bit odd in the previous 'dex that the LS Storm had no other attachment but to carry scouts, yet it was a totally separate org slot. Glad it's fixed now :)

1; SM Chapter Masters are now explicitly more powerful/resilient than Captains.
2; SM Chapter Masters on Bikes can take Bikes as Core
3; Stormtalons can escort Stormraven, but not another Stormtalon.
4; "Hunters" are fucking awesome.
5; Calgar gets an additional attack from fighting with a Power Sword and Gauntlet of Ultramar.
6; Sicarius gives a flat +1 to Reserve rolls, not just to your detachment. Tigurius however specifies that it must be the same detachment.
7; Telion can end wars with a single shot. But has a Heavy 2 weapon.
8; Cerberus Launchers are capable of racking up a few kills due to Strength 2.
9; Thunderfires are still awesome. But take up slots with the Hunter =(.
10; Korsarro Khan is a must have for any Bike army.

Mag, numbers 3 (referring to teleport homers being for terminators only) and 5 are not new...but that is beside the point.

1. Vanguard Veteran are more cost effective with the reduction of the cost for their jump packs.
2. Command Squad bikes are likewise more feasible with a reduction of points for bikes.
3. LotD are more viable now that their heavy weapons are not ridiculously expensive.
4. Thunderfire Cannon is barrage now.
5. Servo-arm no longer always gives a bonus attack but you have to choose between the melee weapon or the servo-arm. Servo-harness gives an extra attack though.
6. Land Speeder Storm is more viable with the Cerberus Launcher causing blind with a large blast. Also, the Jamming Beacon has a 12" range instead of 6".

That's all got for now.

..but can no longer assault out of DS. Disorderly Charges/Glorious Interventions abound though!

4; "Hunters" are fucking awesome.
..and the Stalkers's servo-tracking rule pales in comparison.

This sentence reads strangely. TH's only work for units entirely composed of models with Terminator armour, I took the comment in the entry about 'Friendly units' to mean anyone in either of your detachments, but the Terminator armour restriction still applies. Since allies that fall under the 'allies of convenience' rule count as enemy units that cannot be targeted (stipulations on pg.112 BRB) they wouldn't be allowed to capitalize on the TH's in the primary detachment or vice versa. Where's the long protracted argument on that one?

Can we just keep it to what has actually changed. I understand things have become "fucking awesome" but what I'm wanting to do here is focus our readers on specific sections where rules have changed.

Telion as far as I can tell hasn't changed, excepting that he can only be in UM detachments now

Teleport Homers are more of a "tidy up" as they clearly now only apply to Terminator Armoured Units, previously it wasn't clear if other units that teleport could gain the buff. It also now clearly restricts its use to friendlies. These two have been a bit of a bug bear for me over the last couple of years.

I don't want to go down this road in this thread so if you want to go over it further we'll start a new one but the central issue is that although Allies of Convenience are treated as enemies by your units the fact remains they are part of your army and thus "friendly" from a number of perspectives. Not much point in debating it as the allies rules simply don't provide enough information to clarify the issue.

S'all good, I'm not down to derail this thread. Just curious.

5 man tactical squads can take special/heavy weapons. Not an unknown/unforseen change, but a huge one and it should be included I suppose.

Definitely, it will make a significant difference to a lot of builds I would think, particularly if you are taking SM allies.
