Who uses them and what are your favourite units? I think they can be a really good army, but you don't see that many around

I used to have a 13th company army it was fun and characterful but go up against an army with a few well armoured tanks and you will loose.

>> I use them. My favourite units are Bloodclaws, Long Fangs and scouts. Yes, Claws are only really effective on the charge, but when they charge , they fuckin hurt, 4 attacks each, can pack 2 powrefists in a unit of 10, gie them a flamer to ofset their shitty bs, bingo. Long Fangs, whats that you say, shit. Nope, keep them back, and behind heavy cover and they rock. The ability to split fire is really good, but is refelected in the pack leaders high pt cost. If you are now saying that the small numbers in the squad are a down side, then yes you are correct, but I stick a 6 man GH squad, in front of them, make opponent take prioroty tests. Scouts, well, behind enemy lines makes them head and shoulders above other scout squads. They can have all options available to other scout squads, and they can carry power weapons without having a pack leader. Those are my thoughts, if you agree, cool, if you dont, then its still cool.:victory:

I can't imagine a 250pt Lord in an army that is already character heavy to start off. I've always had a soft spot for the Wolves, but have never fielded them because someone else in the area was the local Wolf-guy. Started DA instead then eventually sold them.

I tend to think a Mech heavy list with a couple of powerful drop pod grey hunter squads is the way to go.

Dread, 3 Preds, ven, lord, 2 pod squads and a few speeders.

I havent used the list before but it looks powerful on paper.

Scouts are just so good, and the frostweapon makes there characters quite formidable. Although drop pods are the way forward atm, thats because there cheap as the proverbial chips. Claws are great if they charge, not so great when they don't.

its actually quite easy to do, and still make it possible to make an effective list (at least it was in my areas, especially when the lord could kill an army on his own)
250pts lord (lots of stuff including 4 wolves)
102pts wolf priest (not allot of stuff)
173pts Venerable dreadnought (Multi melta, extra armour, smokes)
202pts grey hunters (10 men, power weapon, plasma gun)
5x198pts blood claws units (12 men, 2xpower fists, flamer)
2x140pts Predator annihilators (HB's, extra armour, dozers)

I never used them but a local player here has always run them from the time he got into 40K. My only beef with them is the need for multiple HQ's depending on the list size as it forces you to waste points that would be used more effectively in other areas. Sure it is a way to enforce fluff but in my mind it is too forced.

At my local club Blackfish in North Walsham we have a 7,000 point space wolf player and he plays really well with them:victory:
