...during this time he came to dislike the Emperor's Children, decrying them a 'bunch of prancing peacocks and tuneless songbirds...
Oh really? We'll see about that you're top half is being separated from your bottom half by my Phoenix spear. Bloody Cthonians, no class, no finesse, no skill.

Seriously though, looking like a great line up so far

Come on, mate. Let's be honest, with our track record, your characters are the ones who usually end up bloody, bruised and pulped. Good luck, though! ;)

Name: Captain Lucian Kalistarion

Legion: Sons of Horus

Age: One-Hundred and Seventy Four (194)

Rank: Captain of the Fourteenth Company.

Appearance: Lucian is tall for an Astartes, standing at seven feet eleven inches tall with enough muscle to make him well proportioned for an Astartes with slightly more muscled growth centred around his upper chest and biceps due to his preferred fighting style when during his time as an initiate from wielding two blades along with his bolter. With rather pale skin and shoulder length black hair it is often joked by his fellow battle brothers and captains that he should of been given Raven Guard Gene-Seed instead of that of the Sixteenth Legion. With slate grey eyes and a pointed nose and angular cheek bones if Lucian was still human he would of been called handsome but the affects of the gene-seed have someone blunted his pointed features making him one of those of the Sixteenth Legion called a: True Son of Horus, bearing an uncanny resemblance to his Primarch. The only thing that mars Lucian's somewhat handsome features are three claw mark scars that run from above his right eye down to his upper lip on the left side of his face that make him look like he is always snarling.

Armour: Armour: Lucian wears the Grey-Green armour of the Sons of Horus Legion, with it being custom made to fit his lean form stylized to be similar in appearance to MK IV 'Maximus' Armour with his helmet having been given to him by Decurion Tiberius Loculus during the time which the Emperors Children travelled with the Luna Wolves during the years which the two legions warred side-by-side after the Third Legion suffered an accident with their gene-seed vaults, with the helmet itself looking much like one of the Emperor's Childrens helmets themselves save for its color and lack of horse hair: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/EMPERORS_CHILDREN_MK_IV_HEADS_UPGRADE_SET.html . The armour itself has the symbol of the Sons of Horus on his left shoulder pad with his personal insignia of a Black Wolf howling at the moon on his right. Across his back acting as a cloak is the hide / fur of a large black wolf which during his trials on Cthonia over a hundred years ago with the hide being remarkably well preserved. The hide is something that Lucian treasures as it is something that he has in common with his Primarch: Horus Lupercal.

Weaponry: Lucian wields two power swords that are strapped across his back in a X, and a bolter that is mag-locked to his right thigh.

Personality: When with his own men Lucian smiles often and jokes with his sergeants and battle brothers while also taking in the advice of his subordinates seriously when it comes to battle planning. To Lucian there is nothing more important than brotherhood and loyalty, and because of that it means he places his loyalty much like that of Garro and Loken directly to the Emperor first, then his Primarch and finally his company as without the Emperor he would of likely died over one-hundred years ago with no-one really knowing who he is so he sees that he owes the Emperor everything. During times of battle Lucian Kalistarion is as serious as they can come focusing entirely on the objective at hand leaving no room for joking or light-hearted banter in his company as they are there to get the job done and once he and his men have completed their objective then they can joke and celebrate. Lucian is stubborn to a fault, always pushing forwards when required to attack until all his enemies are slain or the objective location taken, and when on the defence he will stubbornly refuse to give ground to the enemy turning any defensive action he is in into a meat-grinder until only the battered, bloody yet unbowed victors are him and his own men.

Background:

Born on Cthonia shortly after the unification wars Lucian was just a child when the Emperor of Mankind came to his homeworld with the Sixteenth Legion and found the first of his lost sons, the Primarchs, Horus Lupercal. Lucian watched in awe at the parading genetically engineered super-soliders of the Imperium and wept tears of joy when he gazed upon the re-union of Horus and the Emperor from the shoulders of his father from the huge crowd that had gathered. It was when Horus left with the Emperor that Lucian swore that he would one day grow up to become one of the greatest solider in the Emperors Imperium and that he would serve Horus Lupercal until his dying breath. Lucian kept this promise to himself and upon his fourteenth birthday he left his family home without telling anyone with what little belongings he had and entered the recruitment centre were he would start his journey to becoming an Astartes of the Luna Wolves.

After the initial tests that stated he was compatible with the gene-seed and that he was young enough to accept it without any problems, Lucian began his training with the rest of the batch of initiates and like them were all found to be worthy of being sent to join the rest of the legion once they where they were quickly assigned to squads, given the weapons of an Astartes and set to work on what would be a long and bloody career full of fighting and glory. As a battle brother Lucian fought at Ullanor with the rest of the Luna Wolf Legion, slaying orks with his brothers in the name of their Primarch and the Emperor, and it was on Ullanor that Lucian first drew notice to himself after leading his two squads of his battle brothers after having their transport shot down and their sergeants killed in the resulting explosion that claimed the lives of four marines.

As recognition for his deeds on Ullanor, after single handily refusing to give ground to an ork counter offensive and allowing time for the fourteenth to regroup by challenging the biggest orks he could see in the horde to single combat, Lucian was awarded the rank of Sergeant and given command of survivors of the two squads that had been in that transport. Lucian continued to lead his squad within the fourteenth company as a sergeant until three legions converged on a planet that would soon to be dubbed: Murder.

Murder was a planet inhabited by the xeno-race called the Mecharachnid, that had already slaughtered the Blood Angels of the Ninth Legion that had been sent to cleanse the world of their taint, and were mid-way through doing the same to the Emperors Children who had gone their to 'reinforce' (No self respecting marine would call it: Rescuing), their brother legion. It was here on Murder that Sergeant-Kalistarion met his old friend from the Emperors Children: Decurion Tiberius Loculus, who while being nine years older than Lucian got on with him as if they had known each other their entire lives, which in some way was true as near the start of the Great Crusade the Emperors Children suffered almost extinction due to a problem with their gene-vaults leaving only 300 marines left by the time their Primarch was found, so it was that the Emperors Children remained with the Luna Wolves until they could rebuilt and start their own crusade and it was during these years that Lucian met and befriended Decurion Tiberius Loculus.

It was also on Murder where the Fourteenth lose their Captain when one of the Mecharachnid warrior forms impaled him through the chest ruining the captains gene-seed before biting the top half of the captains helmet and skull removing it completely. Overcome with rage it was Lucian who slew the killer of 14th's captain by jumping onto its back, before wrapping his left arm around its throat and saved through its jugular with his right sword until the headless corpse fell to the ground. After the events of Murder, Lucian was chosen to lead the Fourteenth Company in honour of avenging his captain, his previous records of valour and from recommendations from four of his fellow sergeants, so it was that Lucian ascended to the rank of captain along with a new shiny helmet, a gift from his friend Decurion.

The Fourteenth was present at Davin where they joined in the assault on the corpse-things guarding the ship of the traitor Temba, and upon news of Horus being wounded Lucian dropped to his knees and roared his sorrow to the sky unashamedly shedding tears for their Primarch who he had followed for almost his entire life. Wanting to know how such a might warrior and leader of men could be brought low Lucian travelled with Tarik of Second, Loken of Tenth and many other members of the Sons of Horus who wished to know what had taken place in Temba's throne room.

Due to being with Loken, Tarik and the others Lucian was no present when the rest of the legion took the Warmaster to the Serpent Lodge to have him 'healed' and upon hearing how such a 'superstitious' place full of mysticism and all things that Imperium stood against, Lucian raised his voice in support of his fellow Captain's against such a thing to the point where he eventually fell out of favour with the other captains and eventually the Warmaster. Having Horus admonish him hit Lucian hard and to regain the trust of his Primarch he through himself into all the up coming battles and conflicts with zeal to try and impress his Primarch once again.

When Horus announced and began picking squads to go down to Isstvan III, which had turned from the light of the Imperium and the Emperor Lucian begged and pleaded Horus to be allowed to go with the first wave as he wanted only to bring more glory to the legion and Horus as a whole, Horus was going to have none of it until Lucian said something, that if he had not would of meant he would of been spared what was to come, his final words that sealed his fate to be bound to Isstvan II:

"I beg you one last time my Lord, please allow me to join the first wave. I will now fail you, I will fight until my dying breath. For the glory of the Sixteenth, For You. And the Emperor!"

If it's charity you're asking for, mate, then I'll have to decline. To be fair, I offered Ptolemy to lose, but you knew he was so Godly, so supreme, that Nicholas had no chance to succeed. ;)

2 World Eaters Revan. There's two of us! Also, all of your characters are sissies and will fail terrible in the forthcoming fisticuffs within this RP and other barbs and pleasantries.

This looks like it's gonna be awesome. But uhhh...Everyone sure loves some volkite weapons lol.

Name: Darius Gratus

Legion: Emperors Children

Age: 103

Rank: legionary

Appearance: Standing at just under 7'6 Darius is of average height, even by astartes standards. He has white hair and blue eyes, which shows that his family has deep roots on chemos. Darius's skin is lightly tanned, most likely from seeing many different sun rises on many different worlds across the galaxy during the great crusade. He has an angular jaw which always gives gives his face a gaunt look to it, often sparking up taunts from his squad members who often say that he is "too perfect". Darius may have been classed as handsome if it wasn't for the unbalanced facial features that becoming a space marine created. Darius wears a suit of mkIV plate that is colored in the purple and gold of his legion. On his left shoulder pad he has the symbol of his legion inlaid into the ceramite with gold. On his right shoulder pad he had the arrow marking of a tactical squad and the squad of which he is a part of. Darius proudly wears the aquila on his breastplate knowing that the emperor chose his legion to bear such a symbol, and that wearing the aquila was just another step towards the perfection that he strives to achieve. The only thing marking Darius's features is a row of service studs that show the many conflicts that he has been a part of.

Wargear: Darius wields a bolter, bolt pistol, combat knife and 2 frag grenades

Personality: Darius is known to be one of the more approachable astartes in his squad and often allows remembrancers to question him as long as it doesn't compromise the mission. Due to his age and short time as a full astartes he is often mocked by his superiors who believe that he is a whelp. To counter this Darius spends hours upon hours honing his skills in the practice cages between engagements and warp travel, hoping that he may prove himself and be accepted as a warrior of his legion. When in combat Darius is cool and calculated and always focuses on the task at hand and will not stop until it is done or he is dead.

Background: Born on chemos about 100 years into the great crusade, Darius was born in one of the many cities on the planet of perpetual twilight. his mother was an artist, while his father was a peace keeper. He grew up a part of a well off family and from a young age realized the importance of art and recreation. As he grew up he heard of the mighty space marine legions and swore that he would one day walk among them to reclaim the galaxy in the name of the emperor. When Darius was 12 years of age he was selected as an initiate for the trials to become a space marine of the 3rd legion. Even though the trials were tough darius managed to pass them and was selected for the long years ahead of genetic and chemical altering that would change his body and mind forever.

After decades spent in one of the scout companies Darius was finally selected to become a full astartes due to the many losses suffered by the legion in a recent battle. This day was the day when he could finally make his legion proud. As the years past Darius was a part of many battles, such as the diosporex and murder. There was one captain that he always looked up to, that captain was saul tarvitz. Darius thought that captain Tarvitz was the perfect officer because he didn't ask to many questions, he just did it without question.

when Darius was told that he would be taking place in the first wave going down to istvaan 3 he couldnt hide his joy, it was finally time for him to prove himself to his squad mates. little did he know however is that he wouldn't have the chance.

Ohh I'd be careful if I were you. Most legionnaires don't take insults well. The next time you turn around it may be a loyalist weapon that bites into your back. ;)

Everyone loves the new volkite weapons. Who doesn't want to use an approved space marine death ray?

Just reading through Massacre, and I thought I'd point out, that the Space Wolves aren't at Ullanor - So Lucien couldn't have met the Space Wolves, there. :)

Its in one of these three (Horus Rising, False Gods, Galaxy in Flames) That its stated that even if not the entire legion being there that at the victory of Ullanor all Legion were represented even if it was just a single company or two. So the Wolves were definately there but not the entire legion.

Name: Sebastian Aureillian

Legion: Emperor's Children - Lieutenant

Age: 199

Appearance: Sebastian is of above average height for a Space Marine but is also more slender then many of his brothers. He has a young, handsome face, characterised by high defined cheek bones, a narrow jaw and pale blue eyes. His skin is pale and his hair is long and golden blonde. It is most often arranged into two intricate braids, one holding back the majority of his hair while another smaller one is made from the stray hair at the front and is often tucked behind his left ear. Both are generally decorated by thin cords of woven gold leaf adorned with purple gem stones.

He wears a full suit of Mark IV armour decorated with the Palatine Aquila across the breast plate. His Chapter badge is sculpted and protrudes slightly from his left shoulder. A fine white loin cloth embroided with gold hangs between his legs. His left gauntlet has been modified into a small shield, designed like an eagles wing and painted gold.

Sebastian's primary weapon is a hand-and-a-half power sword called Spectre, named for it's pale silver colouring and the ghostly blur it becomes in it's owners hands. It is long and slender, double edged with a slit down the middle to reduce it's weight. Sebastian forged it himself and it is his single most prized possession. He also carries a larger than average combat knife that he can use to dual wield with Spectre. Lastly he carries a standard Umbra Ferrox pattern bolter.

Personality: Sebastian is a typical Emperor's Children Legionary, proud and elegant in both appearance and manner. Although typically aloof, he makes a great effort to be polite to those off all ranks and stations, believing rudeness to be inelegant and imperfect. Like his brothers he strives for perfection in all things and truly believes his Legion to be the greatest of all, leading to some competition when in the company of those of other Legions, especially when slighted, even in jest.

Sebastian is highly competitive, both on the wider field of battle as a leader, but more earnestly as a sole warrior and a swordsman. This leads him to search for duels whenever possible and has resulted in a number of friendly rivalries both within the Legion and beyond it.

Background: Sebastian was born on Chemos, the son of Miners. He was raised on stories of the past and the rise of the hero Fulgrim and was always encouraged to take an interest in the arts and culture, things that were denied to his ancestors. Sebastian became was a bright child and learned quickly. As he grew older he learned more and more of the Emperors Children and longed to join them. He knew that to do this he had to become the best at everything and so began his competitive streak as he longed to outdo his peers both intellectually and physically. He dedication paid off when at the age of 12 he was chosen to join the ranks of the Legions Astartes.

After completing his training, Sebastian was inducted into the 10th Company. He fought on a hundred battlefields and had become a Sergeant by the time the Legion came to Laeran. Though his squad fought valiantly throughout the campaign, they were excluded from the final assault and never reached the Laeran temple that would so effect the Legion's fate.

After the promotion of Captain Tarvitz, Sebastian was part of the Emperor's Children force under Lord Commander Eidolon who fought on Murder and it was here, in the midst of terrible casualties that he became a Lieutenant. Since their time on Murder Sebastian and Saul Tarvitz had become quite close and it is this relationship that led to Lieutenant Aureillian being deployed in the first wave to the Choral City.

Hope this is ok. It's a little rushed in a couple of places and I'm not up on all little details of the HH.

Errmmm...sorry to put a downer on you Asamodai, but the IIIrd legion didn't have psykers. Fulgrim, and by extension the legion, viewed the genetic variation that lead to psykers was an imperfection and so didn't induct them.

I mean it's Unxpekted's call, but from my knowledge of the fluff, both novels and Forge World's HH series, you can't have been an Emperor's Children Librarian. Or if you had, you'd be low ranking, since I doubt they would have let an imperfect soul have command over perfect brethren. But as I said, it's Unxpekted's call.

i will try and get a death guard charactor up, the betrayed sons of mortarion cannot go unrepresented but with a fairly long hiatus I am well behind on my heresy reading and have a fairly scattered memory of the original books

in addition I am currently recovering from 3 days at a festival so hope I recover in time to get something up
this looks like a great concept

Also edited my character's weapons, a finely tuned plasma pistol and a dual headed power axe. If any additional changes are needed please let me know.

Cool that we seem to now have a pretty good variety amongst the Legions represented here. This is going to be so cool, very excited for this rp

Name: Aloros Gilgumman

Legion: Death Guard

Rank: Legionary (Devastator)

Age: 147

Appearance: Aloros stands slightly shorter than the average Astartes but is broader in shoulder, a nod to his genetic inheritance from his primarch. His face is a canvas of pale flesh with blotch marks to make it unmistakable to pick him out as a son of Barbarus. His eyes are however a remarkable feature about him for they are bright green in stark contrast the usually black or dull colors commonly found amongst the Legion. He has only known the feel of hair for a short period of time in his life prior to his falling out given the toxic atmosphere of his home world.

Aloros wears Mk. II 'Crusade' Pattern armor that had been a hand me down from amongst his Legion since the beginning of the Crusade. He does not believe in accepting newer equipment if older, more tested (and therefore reliable) pieces are still serviceable. He has a strong sense of keeping his gear in working, plain order and to that end is armor is unremarkable beyond some of the battle damage, which he has purposely left unrepaired.

He carries with him a Plasma Cannon that he had effectively wielded for decades having been apart of his company's heavy-weapons detachment. The cannon itself it nearly as old as Aloros and this actually has a strong appeal to him as it shows that unlike most of its kind its not unreliable ... so far. He also carries a standard issue combat knife and a bolt pistol should anything happen to his prized cannon.

Personality: A staunch traditionalist and a fierce opponent of any kind of change. Aloros believes that if something is not broken, do not change or modify it. His austere attitude has also earned him the admiration of some within his legion but has earned him an equal amount of scorn by others. This has never seemed to bother him, even as he was passed over for promotions by his superiors. He has never known any real ambition or attitude towards command and has been content to remain in the Legion's unremembered masses.

Background: Aloros was born on the toxic world of Barbarus and was born as one of the barbaric mountain dwellers that often prayed upon the innocent villages in the valleys below. Were it not for fate he would have been born too soon and perhaps may have even grown up with some minor knowledge of the miracle child known as Mortarion, but he was apart of the next generation. He grew up on a Barbarus that his father did not recognize for it was a world ruled by the Death Lord with a cold fist. Whilst some of his people quietly opposed this sudden reversal in their fortunes he was, shocking, quick to embrace this new order (for he had been born into). He was one of the first of Barbarus to be inducted into the newly minted Death Guard.

Aloros should with distinction and valor as any would expect of the Death Guard and quickly adopted and favored the Legion's pastime tactic of simple foot-slogging and attrition warfare which he felt favored the sons of Barbarus. During the Cleansing of Euglora he was noted for his careful application of heavy weapons fire on select portions of the xenos lines which helped to effect a breakthrough. His expertise with heavy weapons, especially las and plasma cannons, was further noted during the events surrounding the events on Nethea.

He was present during the Ullanor Campaign and was often noted to have been having the time of his life. Aloros had often spoken that fighting against waves of Greenskins is what the Emperor made him for, for it was the perfect test of his endurance. The Greenskin was a beast built for attrition and ground-slogging with a low-cunning that would baffle even the more enlightened commander. Aloros was given several recognitions of valor and honor as he was noted to grimly keep walking through the muck, blood and soil mixed trenches straight into Orkish line singing the dour songs of Barbarus to encourage his squad. For Aloros this was likely the best years of his life and its final conclusion actually put a dour sheen over his mood.

It would be after Ullanor that what little recognition Aloros had received would vanish. His commanding officers had made several subtle approaches to him over the coarse of Ullanor, prompting him to accept the gradual change that was overcoming the Legion. They spoke that he was the personification of their grim mindset and he would likely be welcomed with open arms by his like-minded brethren. He almost gave into this whispers during the haughty and high days of fighting the Greenskins but the conclusion of that war brought him down from his high and he grew reclusive. Suddenly he began to cling back to the Legion's traditions and quickly shut out the attempts by his superiors to change his mind. His fortune quickly changed and instead of being given the honor of being the first into the fight or being put in the thickest fighting he was often assigned to rear-guard duties or inglorious assaults.

When he was informed that he would be apart of the first wave to retake Istvaan III from its rebellious populace he was quite surprised and a little excited ...

The way I read it the Emperors Children had few Librarians, never enough to form a full Librarius but some never-the-less. Also, I included the whole imperfection thing giving him a self-loathing element that drove him ever further in his desire for perfection to make up for his inherent imperfection.

Also, it seemed Fulgrim couldn't have been 100% against psykers, even if he wasn't a huge fan of them, given that he supported Magnus at the Council of Nikaea.

But, that's unimportant. I've edited it out now and made a couple of other requested changes.

There are a couple more people who have expressed interest, so I will be waiting a bit longer before making my final list of accepted characters.

Fortunately, the way this RP is set up, it will be extremely easy to introduce new players throughout the role-play if the group loses some of its numbers along the way. Still, it will be important to start out with a strong core group of characters to ensure things get rolling in such a manner.

So if anyone who is interested reads through this, let it be known that anyone is free to submit a character sheet to this thread or through a PM to me at any time. I will let people know if the time comes where I will no longer be accepting anyone new.

If someone makes a post later on asking, there is no need to get annoyed, I have no issue answering them if they are just double checking.
