If you want a dead Monolith then get Broadsides or Hammerheads (RailGun Variant) S10 AP1.
They are useful against the Nightbringer too but if they're out then XV8's with high strength weapons like Fusion Blasters.
Strength 8 and above is your best friend here, but as there are only 3 S8 or above Tau weapons, your going to have to rely on a little luck with the dice rolls too.

Railguns are your only choice against the Monolith
MissilePods/SeekerMissiles/FusionBlasters against the NightBringer

Good Luck

If possible, spam Railguns to take down that Monolith fast. If he's taking both a Mono and the Nightbringer at 1500 pts he wont have much else, so bring the mono down and you've probably won. The Nightbringer is scary, but not particularly dangerous of you can tie him up far enough away from your important units.

Keep in mind that your Fire Warriors have a 6" longer range (3" for Rapid Fire) than his Warriors, so use that to your advantage. With both a Mono and Nightbringer, he will be in realistic risk of Phase Out

Hate to burst your bubble, but a Necron army can have a Nightbringer and a Monolith and still have enough Destroyers to be a real threat. Knock that up to 2k and all bets are off. You can be grateful that he is using the worse of the two C'tan, however.

Taking out the Monoliths should be a priority if you have S10 weapons.

AP3 weapons are going to be useful to take out the rest of the army, but it is really important to focus your fire on taking down whole units at a time. Don't just snipe at random because things will get back up.

P.S. @Deathscythe: If he is a new player you might be right, but most of the more experienced players don't use RezOrbs at all. They aren't that useful most of the time.

Necrons will struggle to bring down Multiple hammer heads, especially if you stay back.

I'd invest in 2 or 3 and use them as hyper-snipers to pick off more important units like heavy destroyers. The Monolith can't do much until it's within 24". So leave it and assess whats going on first.

Nightbringer is a god in CC yes, but he is slow. Just avoid him like the plague.

There shouldn't be any HDs, sensible people don't use them. Standard Destroyers are bad enough, and should be the top target priority.

The Nightbringer can move up to 12" per turn, and don't forget his mini Las Cannon.
