I've been working on a heavily modified Crisis Suit (Still less than 50% done on painting), and had the inspiration to come up with rules for a special character, as this is to be the commander of my forces for the foreseeable future. I plan on using these rules mainly in fun games or Apocalypse matches with a custom Datasheet.

Now, I don't have VDR or any such character builder, so I did some math and figured out what I think is an approximate points cost, though that can easily change. I know I broke some rules when it comes to putting together a Crisis Suit, but that's the point of special characters, right? Anyways, without further ado, the character.

Shas'O D'Yanoi Kais Ol'Kak Montyr – 200

W B S T W I A LD Sv
_4 5 5 4 4 4 4 10 2+

Equipment: Iridium Armor, Plasma Rifle, Cyclic Ion Blaster, Power Shield, The Aun's Wings, Hard Wired Multitracker, Bonding Knife

Power Shield: Shas'O Ol'Kak has a heavily customized Crisis Suit, and his Power Shield is a perfect example of this. Created by Fio'El Doran'Suam, the shield has a force field that wraps around it, providing Commander Brightsand a 4+ invulnerable save. Brightsand has learned how to use his shield in combat, using the force field to shear through enemy armor, and so counts as having a Power Weapon in close combat.

The Aun's Wings: In addition to the other modifications to his suit, Commander Brightsword requested that his suit also provide a visual representation of the Ethereals will. The Aun's Wings give him the Hit and Run special rule, as well as adding +1 to the LD of all Tau (Not Vespid or Kroot) units within 12 inches of him.

Keep in mind, this is very first draft, but all criticism is wanted.

Sounds like a very good concept, but I doubt that the points will pass muster. Also, you have designed a very strong combat unit for an army that swings the other way. 5 Str5 power weapon attacks on the charge with a 2+/4++ save and 4 wounds for 200pts? And the guy has speed and hit & run? A bit overboard there, or a bit under for points.

I don't play Tau, so don't take my opinions as those of a rational and informed individual.

Seems kinda similiar to Commander Farsight. He's only worth 170. If you don't use Kroot, Vespid or Ethereals (does anybody actually field Ethereals?), maybe you could look at using him.

He is alot like farsight but his character has hit and run and does not mess with the force org thats why farsight is so cheap you lose alot of good stuff when you take him but farsight i think is still the better character he might only have a 2+ save but he counts as A monsterous creature in close combat so he can mangle tanks. but if you are hell bent to build an all suit army I would stick with farsight but if you want the regular tau list plus the character I would take this guy. And for the points cost I would say maybe make him 220-230 he does do alot for you.

Ummm, there is a post which is 8 lines that barely has a period or comma, grammar is more than just spelling.

The points do seem just a little low, but I am not completely sure of the costs of the normal Tau upgrades. Not sure about the hit and run rule as well as the extra armour. Isn't Iridium Armor suppose to slow a suit down, so why is it getting something that only fast flying troops should have.

the iridium reduces the assault movement of the suit from 6" to d6" so wings wouldn't be to far off

Normal assault with a jumppack/jetpack is 6 inches, the extra armour makes this D6 (slowing the models movement down). So how does adding wings all of a sudden overrule the slow movement and allow it to dart in and dart out of combat. I still don't see it.

You get the hit and run from Vectored Retro Thrusters, which can be taken with the Iridium armor. I may bump the points up a bit, but not too much. I'll go ahead and try to find the math I did, but as I recall (A dubious source) he actually came in under 200 points before I added points to make up for having 4 support systems instead of 3 and getting the +1 to leadership for nearby units.

What I was looking for was a Farsight supporter that is still loyal to the Tau Empire and hasn't become a radical and shaken his force up too much. I actually run fewer suits than most lists out there, and was looking for a character that could act as a something of a fire brigade, moving from place to place and providing support.
