I recently (read: today) acquired a new land raider crusader kit, and I am not wanting to go with the standard Black this time around for this one.

I am considering making it a sword brethren themed crusader, but I am unsure how to go about painting it, I know the colors I will use there will be no white, except for scrawled writings, mainly Chaos black and Gore red.

all the marines poking out of it will be painted like brethren, rather than the typical bright red tech marines I paint.

any thoughts.

also, if anyone has a link to a vehical painter I could play with colorschemes on, that'd be nice.

I know little of the Black Templars, so forgive me if I get this wrong...

Sword Brethren are combat veterans, are they not? Maybe you could run with some massive version of a crusader cross for your paint scheme, centred on the roof but lapping over the edge and going down the sides? So that essentially (let's assume black cross, red field), you have a largely black landraider with red 'corners' (I'd be inclined to pick round this in white personally, but it doesn't have to be very much...)

Alternatively, quarter it (again from above, again running the cross down the sides, front and back, but this time it's the quarters not the cross that's the point), paint opposite quarters black (say, front right and rear left) and do either a giant version of, or endlessly repeated small versions of, your crusade badge. Again, maybe you'll think it's too much white, but I can't help it (and in my head, it looks ace).
