Now since Ragnar so beautifully shattered the idea of a combined-arms regiment, here is the solution:

The Vulcanis System has two habitable worlds: Larilla which is a hive world and the central hub of the sub-sector, and Stygies VIII, a large moon/forge-world orbiting a gas giant (named Stygies...8th Moon...you get it). This Forge-World is also, conveniently, one of the few left that has the capability to make a Leman Rus Vanquisher, supplying the regiments of the system with a steady resupply, giving them a much higher-than-average number of the powerful tanks.

Larilla forms Imperial Guard Battle Groups, basically the equivalent of Brigades. Each BG consists of 1 Heavy Armoured Regiment, 1 Armoured Fist Regiment, and 1 Artillery and Air Defense Regiment. These BGs are headed by a General (not a Lord General...just your average everyday General...what a noobie), and reform each time there is either a Triple-Founding (where one of each regiment is stood up simultaneously to be shipped out) or whenever three regiments, of each respective specialty, completes refit on the homeworld. Regardless, the instances of lone Larillan regiments are few and far between (although not impossible).

Larillan 1st Armoured Regiment - (still need to think of a good motto...yes I suck!)
The Larillan 1st Armoured Regiment is the original regiment to have been formed on Larilla six-thousand years previously. It has recently departed Larilla, after a rest and recovery rotation, during which it replenished its supply of heavy armour and recruited to fill its ranks. This is a highly prestigious unit, and has the benefit of a "volunteer" regiment, recruiting solely from the Schola graduates from the Military Academies on the planet. Even the lowlier members of the regiment, i.e. support personnel and drivers/loaders in the tanks, are vigorously tested in order to ensure that only the best Guardsmen ever make it into the Armoured regiments, much less the distinguished First.

The First is split into four separate battalions, each capable of operating independently with other Guard Regiments when the operational environment requires. The battalions are all identical to one another and split into 6 companies. Each company has a specialty to ensure that the battalion is fully capable of repelling any foe, be it swarms of greenskin to heretic armour.

For ease of figuring out what things are:
Baneblade --- Leman Russ Main Battle Tank --- LR Executioner --- LR Conqueror --- LR Exterminator --- LR Punisher --- LR Demolisher --- Destroyer Tank Hunter --- LR Vanquisher --- Chimera --- Salamander Scout --- Salamander Command --- Atlas --- Trojan

CDR: COL Savido Halletto
XO: LTC Cappi Alessandro
Commissar: Illyan Petrosk

Regimental Headquarters Company (HQC):
Baneblade x2
Leman Russ Main Battle Tank x 5
Leman Russ Executioner x1
Destroyer, Tank Hunter x1
Atlas x10 (used throughout the regiment for tank recovery)
Trojan x10 (used both as tank recovery and resupply if necessary)
Scout Salamander x10 (Regimental level scouts)
Support Personnel 200 (there are the mechanics, cooks, and other random members of the Ecclesiarchy/Munitorum that are required to keep a well-oiled machine running)

Each Battalion has the following composition:

BN HQC
Baneblade x1
MBT x6
Conqueror x1
Demolisher x1
Command Salamander x1
Trojan x8 (primarily for resupply of ammunition)
Salamander Scouts x5
Support Personnel x100

1st Company/4th Company - Close support/anti-horde or infantry
MBT x3
Demolisher x2
Punisher x2
Exterminator x2
Support Personnel x40

2nd Company/5th Company - Support by fire, primarily used in order to fix an enemy, allowing 1st, 3rd, 4th, or 6th to maneuver to destroy it
MBT x6
Demolisher x 2
Conqueror x1
Support Personnel x40

3rd Company - Anti Tank/Anti Armour
MBT x2
Conqueror x3
Vanquisher x3
Destroyer x1

6th Company - Anti Tank/Anti Armour
MBT x2
Conqueror x3
Vanquisher x3
Executioner x1

Grand Totals:
3431 personnel (crew/command/support)
6 Baneblades and 250 Leman Russ Variants (breakdown as follows)
117 MBTs
5 Executioners
36 Conquerors
24 Vanquishers
16 Exterminators
16 Punishers
36 Demolishers
5 Destroyers
42 Trojans
10 Atlas
34 Salamanders

Larillan 64th Mechanized Infantry Regiment
Still a work in progress...
This will consist of the Armoured Fists, chimeras upon chimeras of soldiers ready to run and die in the name of the Emperor, not that they want to but because the Commissar is a dick and will probably shoot them otherwise. For the most part, it's made up of gangers and people just trying to run away from their past (for whatever reasons, haven't thought up anything too specific as yet).

The 64th is split, like its sisters, into four discrete battalions, each with an identical build. Each battalion is capable of operations and self-sustainment without support from the others if the operational environment demands several, smaller elements as opposed to a massed regiment. Each battalion has eight companies, each with a twin: 1st = 2nd = 5th = 6th, 3rd = 7th, 4th = 8th. As opposed to its sister regiments, the companies in the 64th have no inherent maintenance or support personnel, instead relying on the troops assigned to the battalion headquarters element. Each company is specialized and equipped to deal with certain tasks, and it is unlikely that a company will ever operate alone and without the support of the rest of the battalion.

For ease of figuring out what things are:
Salamander Command --- Salamander Scout --- Chimera --- Hellhound --- Sentinel --- Trojan --- Atlas

Regimental HQC
Salamander Command x 3
Hellhound x 9
Chimera x 12
Trojan x 10
Atlas x 10
Salamander Scouts x 12
Support Personnel x 150

Battalion HQC
Salamander Command x 2
Hellhound x 6
Chimera x 9
Trojan x 2
Salamander Scouts x 4
Support Personnel x 100

1st/2nd/5th/6th Company - Assault
Salamander Command x 1
Chimera x 12

3rd/7th Company - Support by Fire
Salamander Command x 1
Chimera x 9
Hellhound x 3

4th/8th Company - Tank Hunters
Salamander Command x 1
Chimera x 9
Sentinel x 3 (Designed according to the Armageddon model)

Grand Totals for the Regiment
71 Salamander
384 Chimera
57 Hellhound
18 Trojan
10 Atlas
24 Sentinel
1715 Crewmen
4694 Infantrymen
550 Support Personnel
6959 Total Guardsmen

Larillan 19th Artillery Regiment
Equipped to shoot anything on the ground or sky, just don't ask them to get too close. Fluff is still a work in progress...

The 19th has four distinct battalions - 2 primarily artillery and 2 primarily air defense, each consisting of 3 batteries (the artillery equivalent of companies). A major difference between the 19th and its sister Regiments is the huge increase in support vehicles. Massive numbers of Trojans and several Sentinal Powerlifters reside in the 19th, required to ensure that the guns never go silent and the sky keeps raining steel.

For ease of figuring out what things are:
Salamander Command --- Salamander Scout --- Atlas --- Trojans --- Bombard --- Basilisk --- Manticore (Arty and ADA) --- Hydra Flak Tank --- Sentinel Powerlifter --- Deathstrike

Regimental Headquarters Battery
Salamander Command x4
Atlas x20
Trojan x20
Sentinel Powerlifters x10
Deathstrike Missiles x2 (only the COL can give permission to launch these bad boys)
Support Personnel x 200

Both artillery battalions are identical to one another as well as each air defense battalion.

1st/2nd BN HQB
Salamander Command x2
Salamander Scouts x6 - these act as the observers for the artillery fire, two per company
Trojan x4 - primarily used for ammunition movement/resupply
Sentinel Powerlifters - used for ammunition movement/resupply
Support Personnel x 100

1st Battery - Mortars
Bombard Cannons x 8
Trojans x4
Sentinel Powerlifters x 1
Support Personnel x40

2nd Battery - Long Range Missiles
Manticore Missile Launcher x 2
Trojan x4
Sentinel Powerlifter x1
Support Personnel x40

3rd Battery - Earthshakers

Do you have IA1 by any chance..they have a TO & E of an Armoured Regiment.

It looks pretty good to me although some of the numbers seem a bit excessive, namely the DTH's as they are relics from a bygone era and incredibly rare, so one perhaps two Squadrons at most, 6 tanks in total.

I'd need to look at it longer but it looks sound to me...great project.

Yeah I'll be switching it up a bit, according to someone else it's slightly frowned upon to have armoured-infantry formations organic to a single regiment. I'll be expanding it to the following plan, once I actually finish the new task-orgs.

Larilla, the home system, tends to build battle groups in sets of three regiments (dammit this will be more work!): one armoured fist regiment, one heavy armour, and one artillery/air defense (each regiment of course has it's own logistics). The armoured regiments recruit from the aristocracy primarily, especially as their tank commanders/gunners, as these two positions are the most sought after. The artillery recruits from middle to lower-class, not really the cream of the civilization but certainly not the arse. The infantry, good ole cannon fodder, are either voluntary or press-ganged, barely a step up from a penal legion.

These battle groups stay relatively constant while in-theater, but when regiments return to Larilla in order to recruit additional members, depending on the losses taken they get swapped around once they ship off.

Larillan First Armoured Regiment: Basically I'll be taking the heavy armoured portions (the LR and whatever super-heavies I wind up going with) of the list and transferring them all to the armoured regiment. As the "1st," clearly these guys are haughty douchebags, and admittance from the aristocracy is limited as it is in very high demand. The COL is very well connected and has relatives in the current ruling family of the planet.

Larillan Sixty-Fourth Heavy Infantry Regiment: This will consist of the Armoured Fists, chimeras upon chimeras of soldiers ready to run and die in the name of the Emperor, not that they want to but because the Commissar is a dick and will probably shoot them otherwise. For the most part, it's made up of gangers and people just trying to run away from their past (for whatever reasons, haven't thought up anything too specific as yet).

Larillan Nineteenth Artillery Regiment: Recruited from the every-day run-of-the-mill population of the planet, nothing really special that I've thought of for them, other than they'll be full of Hydras and Basilisks....EARTHSHAAAAKERRRRs.

I'll be re-designing the lists, though I'll be focusing on the 64th for the short story, because dismounts tend to be more exciting than a guy in a tank.
