I'll put this one here instead of in my Journal (then I'll go through the process in the journal), but I was real happy with how it came out for the most part, so here he is...

This was made as if the Stealth Suit switched off and the shot was caught halfway through the unstealth (or the stealthing). I do have to reblack the rim of the base to clean it up, but he is done otherwise.

Hope you like

I like it! Suggestion: for the rest of the Stealths I would do the same thing but have the stealth line in different spots on the armour, maybe even reversed on a couple to show the colours on the legs. Also, this effect will be FAR more effective if you add something to the bases that have the same colour as the stealthed areas, beyond the base I mean. Perhaps a part of a wall behind the model and having the same colours on the legs/part of the torso matching the wall colours....

good idea wraith and thanks, i may have to have some well placed rubble. A friend also told me to do the transition line in different spots too, I may try it but not sure how it'll turn out on the whole squad of 6. My original intention was to have them all basically on the center line as if the Team Leader gave the signal to unstealth and they all coordinated. But i might try the other also to see how it works.

I do enjoy that its a neat effect that has reduced the painting time by quite a bit :)

Heh, actually one more suggestion if you wish to hear it. When making the transition line (good phrase that) try making it slightly more wavy if you know what I mean. A little more up and down to it will make it look more like an energy field I think. Please don't take this is as negative criticism or anything as it isn't. I love the idea and the effect and thought of a couple ways to make it more effective in my mind. Feel free to disregard me entirely

no probs, you always have great ideas. I might see if i can make it more energy wavy.. a buddy also suggested mounting them on 40mm's so that I can take more advantage of scenery and camouflage for the stealthed part

Out of context it could look strange but as soon as it is seen for what it is I think it is a cool idea and well executed. Ditto on changing the lines on various models. Go for it mate show us a whole squad! 8)

Thanks, i agree and I think 40mm's will help the point come across better (as well as the whole squad being done). The rest I'll be updating as they're done in my journal in the "ongoing projects" section.

This has got to be one of the best examples of the idea, most of the other attempts I've seen have been well complete bollacks.

Nice Work

Very nicely done!
I've seen various other versions of the stealth field before and I have to say this Is the best example I've seen. I think once touched up and placed within a squad they'll look even better.
Great work! :)

Wow I've been wanting to try this for sometime but been afraid to mess up my already nicely painted models. You have given me the courage to give it a shot. Thanks.

:) Thanks all. Trust me, when I got the top half painted and knew I'd be doing a big black line across it to give me the foundation for the blues... I was kind of freakin' on the inside. Glad it turned out :D
