Overview:
The Spartans, were a chapter created in the seventh founding by the Iron hands space marine chapter. The new legion was given the Terran world of Jaeger and its Moon Amestria by there father legion. Being descendants of the Iron hands legion their gene seed is from Ferrus Mannus. They were created by the Iron hands in order to combat Chaos forces near the eye of terror. Due to there proximity to the eye of terror, there is often chaos raiding parties made to their system which has lead to much of the chapter being destroyed. The thousand suns chapter has attacked the home world of the Spartans causing much of the chapter to be destroyed (Specifics in the Attack on Jaeger). After the last attack the system was fortified with a guard Regiment on both the Planet and the Moon of the System.
Chapter Organisation:

Armory (separate to other companies): 13 tech marines, 29 servitors, 23 rhinos, 8 predators, 1 land raider, 1 land raider crusader, 7 whirlwinds, 3 razorbacks, 3 vindicators, 1 war hound titan
As shown in there organisation at the current time, the Spartans do not strictly follow the codex Astarties in there arrangement of forces and there amount of companies. When at full strength the Chapter wields 11 companies numbering from 0-10. The 0 so called Master company, is the Chapter masters veteran strike force and inner circle, often using drop pods to get behind enemy lines when the rest chapter is engaged.
Although relatively small in numbers after the war with the Thousand sons, The Spartans have attained a single war hound titan during there campaign against Chaos but have not shared it with the mechanicus, to allow the Chapter to protect there home world from the threat of Chaos
Homeworld/s:
Jaeger is a Terran world of a similar size to earth, however it is naturally colder and has reach -50 degrees C in the winter months. It is populated with around 2 billion imperial citizens and thus can be used as recruitment for the chapter however the Moon offers much better candidates. Amestria is an Ice ball, with much tectonic activity during the years causing many of the settlements to be destroyed. Around 800,000 people live on Amestria and live tough lives on the planet however the Chapter continues to keep its citizens there to produce stronger initiates. The Spartans use Amestria as a training ground leaving potential recruits leaving them in empty areas to test there survival skill by surviving both the cold, the natural disasters and the wildlife. This is known as the Great Hunt. Most fail to survive however those that do can become Space marines.
Culture and traditions:
For training possible candidates are dropped onto uninhabited parts of Amestria and left there, and told to get to make there way back to the fortress monastery on Jaeger to become a neophyte.
Once made into a neophyte a candidate is not made an initiate and joins a scout squad and fights with the chapter. Most are armed with snipers and told to eliminate important targets on missions such as enemy leaders. Once made a space marine they will join a company of there choice depending on there combat role or either assault, devastator or tactical marine.
As a whole the chapter is strong in siege or ranged warfare and thus uses mechanized forces often using whirlwinds, hunters and stalkers to take out the enemy before moving in to destroy survivors.
Attack on Jaeger:
A warp gate was opened on the Jaeger by Chaos cultists and Heritics allowing Deamons and Chaos space marines through. Specifically deamons of Tzeench attacked the Planet for months. The portal was far away from the Monastery and so very few marines were near the portal and so unable to effectively combat the Chaos threat. Upon learning of the attack Helican Elric ordered that Marines be withdrawn back to the planet from the war with chaos. After weeks of fighting Chaos forces had taken most of the planet and were on the doorstep of the monastery. If by fate or luck the Spartans crusading forces arrived back at the planet and fought back against Chaos. It was at this time when an unlikely ally showed up the Eldar of Ulthwe appeared from nowhere and attack the Chaos forces. Neither knowing or caring why the Eldar supported the space marines The combined forces were able to push back the Tzeench forces although at a cost to the Spartans. 3 Entire companies had been wiped out and only 444 marines remained alive with over 600 dead. After the initial recovery, the Chapter began to recruit again to attempt to bring up there numbers however by the end of the 41st millennium The chapter is still at low strength and is rebuilding its home world.
Current status:
After the attack on Jaeger by the Thousand sons, the Spartans have been reduced to 444 active marines including scouts however still remain an effective fighting force, able to fend off chaos.
There current Enemies are the forces of chaos, especially the thousand sons legion.
There current allies are the Iron hands and the Ulthwe Eldar after the Attack on Jaeger.
Thanks for reading, let me know what you think so far and if you think there is anything i should add or change or f something didn't make sense.
