I don't know a lot about Skaven as I've only played against them a couple of times but I would have thought having one of the Chieftains as a BSB might be a good idea. Ld tests seem to be more prevalent in 8th as far as I can see. In fact I'm thining a BSB may be a necessity in 8th.

I'm also thinking that units of 30 are good because they can reform so as to be either 10 wide and 3 deep or 6 wide and 5 deep depending on whether you want to make use of the Horde rule to get in lots of attacks or the Steadfast rule to stay in the fight and hold thinks up. So maybe boost the Clanrats to 60 and have them in 2 units?

The other thing I've heard said is that the Rat Ogres are not particularly good value. An Abomination might carry more of a threat - if you roll well for the random movement they can get off a second turn charge and they are very hard to kill (unless you have flaming attacks of course). And of course you get the chance to build a truly vile conversion!

Just some random thoughts.
Hope they help,
TT

hm..That looks pretty good! If it was me though, I would probably drop the bell in favor of Queek Headtaker, make one of those blocks of Stormvermin a horde, and let the awesome commence. 3 Ranks of str 5 ws 5 is pretty nasty

Cazmac, you can drop the warpstone tokens, for the grey seer, he already gets D3 at the start of the battle. You could then use the points to upgrade 1 chieftain to a BSB, as Truthteller said. With our pitiful leadership, Skaven need a BSB (I used 1 at 750 pts and he was great:)).

for me the only units that really survive are the bell and furnace there ubreakable units with some amazing special abilities no one can munch the unit to fast so with them being at the front of a fight with stormvermin flanking the sides it should make some decent sandwhiches

yes stormvermin are expensive at 8 points but there a ws 4 str 4 init 5 4+ save unit
(heavy armour and shield)

i may drop the points for bsb may be best option thanks for input guys and aramoro fancy this list next?

For me that is a much more intimidating list. It doesn't have some of the scary things from the Skaven book but it's certainly a solid list.

I'm still not a fan of Rat Ogres, i've played against them a few times and they have always died in the first combat achieving little. T4 and no Armour saves makes them vulnerable to anything.

I would also consider swapping out the Spears for hand weapons on your Clan Rats, you get the Parry save and Spears don't work on the turn you charge anyway.

You have 70pts worth of Shields in your Storm Vermin as well but they have Halbards which means they cannot unit them in Combat anyway, not even of the +1AS. Yes they give you ranged protection but those points could be a Ratling gun or Warpfire Thrower.

I have no idea, theoretically they look quite scary. I mean Ratling guns have an 18" range, no penalties for long range or multiple shots, S4 -2 Save. If you control yourself to 3 dice you'll be getting what 9-10 shots out of them. Sounds good to me.

Warp Fire Throwers are S5 which is pretty harsh but I guess you do have a 1 in 6 chance of just exploding.

35 stormvermin

35 stormvermin
full command

SPECIAL: 569

3 packmasters
6 rat ogres

40 plague monks
full command

RARE: 150

doomwheel

spot on 2500 the clan rats go with SB

just wandering where to put the BSB so he can be effective i geuss with the grey seer and bell but then that means i have to bunch up my force (except of course the PF which can dawdle off on its own)

so perhaps i should put him with some stormvermin allowing me to spread the army a bit more differently?

I'd put the BSB in with one of the Stormvermin units. The Clanrats get the benefit of being with the Bell so they probably need the BSB least (and therefore can be further away from its influence.

I'd still ditch the Rat Ogres and get an Abomination if I could :)
