I need help, lol, I just started my word bearers only got my dark apostle and a single unit but after reading more of what happened during the heresy i've totally gone off them, they just seem so deceitful. I wanted a chaos army since i've always played wth a "good" force usually imperial be it marines or guard but now i'm so tempted by going back to space marines, possibly blood angels (so i don't waste mechrite red :p) but i'm not fully into blood angels i want a original legion that didn't get wasted :(

What do you mean wasted? Word Bearers are still a force to be reckoned with in the 41st millenium.

By wasted i mean i don't want former legion that lost their primarch, i like the element of mystery that comes with the disappearing primarchs, that kind of removes Iron hands and Blood angels.

What drew me to word bearers originally was the fact they learnt the "truth" what ever that was but from what i derive from the heresy books they were just tricked and manipulated and to me that shows weakness, weakness that lead to the downfall of several other noble legions.

Blood Ravens sound ok but mainly cause of the mystery behind them and not knowing who they come from i've not read much lore on them other than playing some of the missions in dawn of war.

I dunno i guess i'll never be rid of playing "good" armies.

Ok some spoilers if no ones read the Heresy series.

Yeah, but if you read it closely, the chaos gods told the word bearers they cared not for the universe but only for the warp. That simply wasn't true, what they told lorgar and then through erebus, horus was that the emperor did not love his primarchs and used them only as weapons to further his god hood, which was not true, since the emperor was trying to stop religion not make himself the center of one. This is how i saw it- The Word bearers were upset due to being told off, got told some lies by the chaos gods like "if you worship me you will get rule the galaxy without us getting involved" They believing this is true give in, then through deception and corruption got to Horus.

That was all a lie, and its because of Lorgar's weakness and being upset that the heresy came about. They didn't openly turn to chaos they were tricked.

i dont even remember lorgar being mentioned in the books, at least not in detail like that. the way i saw it was that the WB deemed the emperor weak and not worth of their praise, and following the chaotic book (dont recall the name) found the superior beings of chaos. then they started to twist the other legions by introducing the lodges, slowly erberus weasled his way into horus' council, twisted his mentallity with the legio divinicus as an example. when horus dies its erberus who suggests the idea to take him to the snake clan for healing.

from my point of view i beleive Lorgar though that once terra was conqueured he would kill horus and be his succesor. i see the horus as the weak one, and i see lorgar being the grand puppeteer

The book you mention is the Book of Lorgar. It explains how the Word Bearers became corrupted, you need to read what Erebus told Horus during his time in a comma on Davin, cause thats what Lorgar and the rest of the Word bearers believe. Basicly the lie told to Horus is the same lie the Chaos Gods told Lorgar after Kor Phaeron told him about them.

Why not just try for World Eaters?
Well, mainly because they don't think about what they are doing, blood thirsty barbarians. In one of the books the enemy is surrending and Angron bursts from under the rubbles and slaughters them. lol i dunno i'm more one for organised troops than mindless butchery kind of why i don't like Blood Angels either. I'm Leaning towards the Blood Ravens more since they are suspected of being one of the lost legions.

What about the Thousand Sons? Or the Emperors Children? Or any of the others.

Heh, quick, guess which one I would suggest :)

I was thinking of Thousand sons before, but since i went to my local GW and heard how many armies they had now (or in the progress) lol it seemed pointless. I want a unique army, i made an army list for Ordo Xenos in the arm list section, but that list could easily be used to estbalish an already obscure chapter like the celestial lines. Chaos just doesn't seem to be in my blood lol.

Ya, Original lists seem to be your solution. If I was going chaos I would do EC, but I'm somewhat poor and ive got too much crap to paint as it is.

I know exactly what you should do.

You want Chaos. You want a 'mysterious' chapter. You were also considering the 'good' Space Marines.

Go Fallen Angels.

If you flip through your Chaos Codex, you'll see them in the gallery of different types of uniforms and liveries... they're the 'unknown' in dark robes over forest green armor. You can use Cypher if you wanted (forgive me, I don't know where his rules originally exist, or if they still do, but the model certainly does), and use either the Space Marine, Dark Angels, OR Chaos codices for rules.

Heh yeah i considered them but you can't have a whole force of fallen angels it would go against the fluff so much, when they release the rules for the lost and the damned i'll be basing a force being lead by a fallen angel.
