Inquiry about Seize Ground and Capture and Control?

Hey guys,

Just started playing the game and was just wondering about some things in seize ground and capture and control.

When you are by the point and it is claimed as yours but you wish to move can you leave any number of guys behind in the squad, say 1, just to hold it or do you still have to abide by things such as the CSM 5 man minimum? If you do how are you supposed to capture any further points considering my chaos space marines in lower point games only number 3-4 squads?

Thanks for any help!

Hey guys,

Im new to the game and was wondering if in seize ground to capture an objective if you can take 1 single unit out of a squad and leave by the objective or do I have to maintain the squad minimum, such as in the case of CSM a 5 man minimum?

Thanks for the help

and it needs to be a troop choice to take objectives but anything can contest an objective (stop you from scoring it). So not only do you have to have a squad sitting on it, you have to clear it out as well

Combat squads, if you want to divide a squad. Space Marines get to do it. Imperial Guard get to take platoons too, if you want another way to stretch your troops slots...

At least one of your Troop models must be within 3" of an objective at the end of the game, and no enemy models within 3".
And yes, your unit must still maintain unit coherency, so you cant just drop one off.
HOWEVER
Remember that only 1 of your models needs to be within the 3". You can spread the rest out in a conga line to capture a second, while still maintaining unit coherency. In fact, a 10-man squad can capture 2 objectives that are 34" apart by spreading out in a line.

You stated that you only had 3-4 squads to capture objectives. Generally, for 1500-2000 point games this is about the right number.
Just make sure that the squads are survivable (eg 10 CSM, or 8-9 KB, or 7-8 PM, etc), and make sure they are in a Rhino.

Dont worry about the objectives too early in the game. Have them in mind, but dont rush directly towards them. Its not a race to see who gets there first, what matters is who is on there at the end of the game.
When you get to turn 3-4 (depending on your distance and mobility), then start heading towards the objectives. On turn 5, get yourself on them and contest any opponents objectives with empty Rhino's etc.
Going second is a massive advantage when it comes to contesting objectives at the end of the game.

Hopefully some of the info i'm giving you will help you out.
